So, I finished the game this weekend.  Not as good as Origens...but that's like having a really great hamburger and comparing it to filet mignon made in a 5 star resteraunt.  Luckily, unlike some, I was expecting a hamburger and so I'm pleased with the game.

Anyways, I decided to play Origens again but when I went to DL the patch I saw Witchhunt, which piqued my curiosity; I ended up playing that first.  And it got me to thinking of just what has been going on.

The Big Picture.
Ok, 2 Dalish elves encounter a mirror in a ruin; one becomes some type of corrupted being, the other either dies or becomes a grey warden (depending on which character you play).  These Dalish elves just happen to come from the same tribe as Merril, who (if you play Dalish Elf) accompanies you back into the ruins to see this mirror; Duncan appears and destroys it as it is to dangerous, and has something to do with the blight.  The blight which, coincedently, started in the Korcari wilds, not far from these ruins containing a corrupted Eluvian.  Your elf then goes on to become a Grey Warden, and the army loses at Ostagar.  The grey warden is saved by Flemeth, and Morigan joins your party.  A few days or weeks later, Lothering is destroyed, and a family is saved by Flemeth, who asks them to deliver a medalion to the Keeper of the Dalish Elves in the sundermont mountains.  The SAME Dalish Elves who until recently were camped near the ruins of the Eluvian.  The Grey Warden goes on to stop the blight, and our story turns to the one who will be the Champion of Kirkwall.  He spends a year as an indentured servent before being able to fulfill Flemeth's request.  The Dalish Elves are now in the Sundermont, and the keeper takes the medalion allowing Flemeth to reconstitute at least part of herself (she does say something about it being a part of her, right?).  Merril is cast out of the tribe because she's pursued forbidden knowledge in her obsession with the Eluvian.  She joins the champion.  Now, I'm gonna flash over to Witchhunt, because I haven't played the other modules besides the one where you become the leader of the wardens.  Anyways, you catch up to Morigan who tells you that Flemeth is not human, has diabolical plans, and was responsible for the blight to begin with.  She then (unless you kill her) steps through the Eluvian to....escape?  For whatever reason.

So, Flemeth started the blight for some reason, then positioned the Grey Warden to end it while positioning the champion to be involved in events that would shatter the Chantry's control of mages all while the Emissary is trying to bring sentience to the Darkspawn.  I get the distinct feeling that either I am WAY overthinking things...or there is a lot going on we haven't learned yet.....but will in future games.   Which makes me wonder if I'm going to ahve to exchange my 'Joss Whedon is my Master' shirt for a "Chris Gaides" shirt.......

It's nothing like that, hamburgers are edible whereas Dragon Age 2 is not.

But on the serious note. In this case, both "meals" were made in the same restaraunt. I was expecting improvements, not downgrades.

You're welcome to your opinion. However, you may find it beneficial to realize that it is simply that, YOUR OPINION. It is only true for you. Remember, opinions are like testicles. Kick 'em hard enough and it doesn't matter how many you have.

In any case, my post wasn't about the state of this module, but about what is going on in the whole game world and what future modules may bring. Feel free to chime in on that particular discussion if you wish. But if all you want to do is lament about how the game fell short of your expectations, there are hordes of other threads to do that in.
