During Arrival you find out Hackett works for Cerberus, how do you handle the situation:

A) Invite him onto the Normandy for a beer or whatever that blue stuff is
B)Cry to the Council/Anderson/random alien
C)Kill him

A.

I never have liked Cerberus much, but I've warmed up to them some.  Still don't like TIM.  But many Cerberus people are awesome in my book.  Jacob is a bro that gives it to me straight.  If Hackett is Cerberus, I'm fine with that.

My allies are those that help me stop the Reapers.

Watch the Shadow Broker videos.  Anderson might be a bit friendlier with Cerberus than you suspect....

I'd probably ask him why he would help me a Spectre and then point me to the very planet where I'd learn about the organization (which he was a part of) that is responsible for the death of my whole squad on Akuze. That just seems like a stupid plan, almost as if it makes no sense whatsoever given the first game and was a recent development.

Deal with him as I deal with everyone in Cerberus that I can. I'd arrest him if possible, kill him if not, let him go if I had absolutely no other option.

I'd take "D) brainwash him with with force-soaked paragon dialog options"

That makes two of us. Finally!

He isn't. Maybe they have some similar goals, but Hackett is not a Cerberus type of guy, that would be the weakest plot twist I ever saw, and I did watch the movie XTRO2!

Hackett? Working for Cerberus? That must be the most stupid thing I've ever heard in my entire life. He's way out of that circus of assclowns' league.

Not really. Cerberus was (and maybe still is) an Alliance black ops group. It is not a stretch of the imagination to think that it still is working with them. It appears that at least the higher ups are still in contact with Cerberus. They can do the things that the Alliance cannot. Keiji's grey box may have contained info linking Cerberus ops to the Alliance. Also Hackett denied a request to have Shepard interrogated about Cerberus.

All my paragons are loyal to Cerberus.  If someone saves your life, they're a friend for life.

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Frankly I'd be dissapointed.

Why would I not be serious?  If someone saves your life you don't turn around and betray them.  Well maybe you might.

The reason why I have a problem with the whole Cerberus saved us argument is because its just so rediculous.
It was so rediculous that it threw me out of the game and immediately made me think that its was just a poorly executed device used to put us in bed with Cerberus and wipe the slate clean (reset Shep to lvl 1).

That being the case, if we remove the whole Cerberus cyber jesus aspect, yes, they help us with the collector threat, and thats about it. I still remember what they did in ME:1, and what they did to Jack and all of those other children, and what about David Archer? What about what they did to Shepard themselves if you had the Sole Surviver background? How about what they did to the Idena? How about all of the assasinations (including the Pope)? Cerberus in ME:1 was a black ops branch of the Alliance that broke off and became rogue terrorists and because they give Shep a ship and some finances that makes it alright?

While I realize that since in real life we don't actually know how to bring someone back to life, let alone bringing them back exactly as they were, it has been done before in literature and done well, it was also in most cases used much better. The death of a main character in a work of fiction should be a major thing and the resurrection of said character should be even more so. What did we get? 'I got better'.  I love Monty Python, but really? Thats the best that they could come up with?  Resurrection technology was not even foreshadowed in ME:1 so its usage in ME:2 was akin to a wizard did it.

The idea that Hacket a respected and admired Admiral is in bed with Cerberus to me is absolutely repulsive.

(It should go without saying that all of that is my opinion)

My reaction would probably depend on what, exactly, he's been doing with Cerberus. If he were like MyShep, and just doing it because he couldn't help humanity inside of the Alliance, I'd probably understand, then offer him a position as XO on the Normandy.

If he was working with Cerberus because he agreed with TIM's goals and methodology, I'd look for the "Bounce his head off the bulkhead" renegade interrupt.

Agreed.

A small point of contention.  They didn't save Shepard's life.  They restored it.  It is an awkward distinction, especially from a player perspective, and frankly it didn't get that well pursued either.

I have a bit of sympathy for the percpetive that they used Shepard like the Geth used Husks.

I'd look for:

D) "brainwash  convince him with with force-soaked paragon dialog options"

Otherwise it'd be:
E) Quit the game and unleash all hell on the Bioware forums.

I would strap Ashley to a nuke and leave her on virmire. But if I had to I would kill Admiral Hackett along with any corrupt officer of the Alliance to purge it of TIM's influence, lets just hope Bioware gives

I thought about this too. It's possible that TIM asked Hacket to ask Shepard to clean up some of Cerberus' mistakes. Also interesting is that the whole Missing Marines quest of ME1 has nothing to do with Hackett. There's a variety of ways to start this quest but Kahoku is the one who advances the plot. Hackett isn't even the person to call you when UNC Hades' Dogs is complete, an agent of the Shadow broker is.

This could all just be chance and coincidence, but its interesting to think about. Bioware could definently write Hackett in as a member of Cerberus without retconing anything.

Your plane crashes over in the middle east. The taliban rescues you from the wreckage and stabilizes you. They then covertly insert you into the country you live in, give you a bomb and tell you to bomb a police station. Do you comply?

Under your example the police would be a credible threat to all human life. Also the use of Taliban isn't exactly a good example either... in fact the differences between the Taliban and Cerberus and their relationship to Shepard/the bomber are so numerous that it makes almost no sense.
