In the beginning of act 2 I recieved this letter, and as I read it, I chuckled a bit. Is this Bioware's play on scam/phish in dragon age? I am most amused that they even bothered to write such a comical letter.
A strangely official looking letter

You're amused at that letter? What about the male enhancement one?

If the male enhancement was magical I'd have to put it in every woman's drink in Kirkwall just for the heck of it.

Actually it reminded me of the email you get in ME2 from Morlan's about "enhancements"

Dragon Age spam is great.

They could (at least) put some more quests in the game... instead of some nougthy spam.

Mass Effect 2 did that same joke.

Because the resources put into sending you some amusing spam would probably cover some more quests. Any quests that would make would be rubbish.

true but where would the fun be in that

I laughed out loud at the Dragon Age "spam", specially because I had just received an e-mail from an acquittance that had to go to London for an "emergency conference" but was robbed outside her hotel and urgently needs me to send her € 3000...

Yeah the time that took to write the spam letter could have been used to create at least 10 other quests like thisdrag.on wrote...

Man, I love their comics. Fun to read, but always spot-on.

Both were epic. Second best thing in DA2, after Merril.

Am I a freak for spending the rest of the act wondering if those letters would be referenced anywhere else?

Yes.
But there is help for you.

You know... you're right (all of you), that spam was awesome... but more awesome it'll be if you really can get those money, and give to some antiva guy... just to understand, after several quests, that you irremediably lost all those money. I also receive some similar e-mail in real life, but it'll be fun to really have the chance to make it... what good to make the spam if you can't make it "real"?

WELL YOU KNOW WHAT; I collected the bloody 100 sovereigns and nothing happened... Except for receiving the "Mogul" achievement, nothing else... I feel like an idiot... It was funny though...

That was probably the point...the game was saying "save up 100 sovereigns so you can get this achievement" kind of thing. I just deleted it because it was spam. Yay.
