Let me get this straight. All of my companions are bisexual?

Why is it so hard to believe that some people are gay and some aren't? If a gay man like another man who isn't gay, they just have to deal with it. The world doesn't fit around you, whether your heterosexual or homosexual. Anders, in particular, being bi just totally blindsided me, given that he seems to have been built from the start as a bit of a hapless and rarely successful womaniser. "All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools", and his constant hitting on Velanna and Mhairi... I mean, come on! If he's bi, why is he not hitting on Nathaniel just as much?
A good compromise would be if Hawke could bring them around, if you choose the right dialogue choices, apart from Isabella, who obviously doesn't mind either way to begin with. That would give Hawke more input on their character, as well.

You aparently don't understand that role play means... you know... to play a role... as in a character... and guess what? Sexuality and interpersonal relationships are a realistic part of characterisation. If you don't like it, you don't have to do it. I like it, I do it.

Come on, that really seems like a cop out. Maybe they wanted to make it so that anyone could romance any party member, and not have to worry about gender or starting a new playthrough to experience it.
But it just seems so... unlikely. All of the varied and interesting people I picked up on my adventure swing both ways? Does the population of Thedas have a much greater percentage of bisexual citizens than our world?
Or did they include a cut-and-paste modular romance experience for both genders because it was easier?
Actually, this is very realistically. EVERYONE IS BISEXUAL.
Most just haven´t met Mister / Miss Right yet.
And Hawke just happens to be Mister Right.
Actually, the fact that they all go for Hawke is much more unrealistic than the fact they don´t care about his / her gender......

Not to derail the thread, but iff is a math/logic term, and it's used pretty frequently in finite mathmatics, so it really has to have it's own page.

Everyone is bisexual is a huge over-simplification, though. Orientation exists, and is very strong in some people, weather it be inherent in them, or a bias taught to them. A person with a strong heterosexual orientation should have some conflict over acnowledging feelings for someone of the same sex, as they will usually have come to identify themselves the same way. Same goes for homosexual orientation.
They shouldn't all simply go for the character, rather, it should be a natural development. I do not know yet,.

Although, if it wouldn´t, that could make for some funny dialogues:
FemHawke: I really love you Merril!
Merril: Oh, I don´t know. You are so good to me and you´re the only friend I´ve ever had and all, but...
Hawke: What´s wrong?
Merril: You know, I have never had a boyfriend because noone likes me, but I decided that i want to be straight so I can´t be with you.....

The fact that you can arbitrarily say this leads me to beleive that you are indeed a moron trying to push some agenda.
I can tell you, Im not Bi sexual, I am very hetero the way God intended. The mere thought of some hairy dude repulses me. I take offense to this statement. If you ment it in the context of the game then I understand that.

Anyway, it'd be better if I didn't see these "flirt" icons and that they were instead unlocked (just like a lot of things should have been LOCKED to begin with) and that certain characters simply wouldn't come on to you within the first 10 seconds of meeting them.

What a load of bull**** your bisexual fine, but you have no idea who I am, to say you know me better than me is ignorant and stupid. Not everyone is bi, I am not bi, even if I am the only guy that isnt bi, your theory is wrong, please never make stupid posts like this again.Tirigon wrote...

That's right. You heard it here first: It is stranger for you to be certain that you don't want to have sex with other guys than it is for you to actually have sex with other guys. Maybe Tirigon knows a good therapy group you could join to work through this difficult dysfunction.
Coolair: Hi, I'm Coolair.
Group: Hi, Coolair
Coolair: And...I--I don't...I ONLY LIKE GIRLS, OKAY? HOW DID MY SOUL EVER BECOME SO BROKEN? HOW DID I BECOME THIS SICK, TWISTED WRECK?"
Modern Counselor Guy: It's all right, Coolair. Guys, I think Coolair could use a group hug.
Group: Yep. (Moves in for group hug)

For me I'd personally prefer it if the game would adjust to what you prefer in as much as its feasible; as in the cost of implementation shouldn't overshadow the benefits; having lots of romances available for example doesn't cheapen the game if done right; as in not every character will express themselves as romanceable characters, but you have to work for it before they cave in. Thus you wouldn't notice that character X is bi-sexual unless you played both a female and a male character, and in both instances tried to romance the same character.
& It's not about what's real, or you can't look at the love in DA2 and say its any less real than the combat, or almost anything else in the game. esp. if you view them not as bi-sexual, but customised to fit your character.
Rubbish.
The game world should adjust to the player? No. The player should adjust to the game world. Thedas (or any setting for that matter) should be populated with complete characters with developed personalities. Not some lumps of clay to mold into whatever fetish one might have.

It's like the two opposing views.
1. The PC is the most important person in the world and they should get what they want.
2. Everything in the world is just as important as the PC and has it's own beliefs and goals.
I thought Anders was a tool for trying to hit on someone he just met and then getting rivalry points for it when I turned him down.
I'm not sure if I buy into this "The whole world is Bi" stuff. I really wanted to nail Tali as femshep, but I could not. That was just not Tali's thing. That made her more of a character of her own.

Everyone is bi, I get that. But are everyone showing their feelings for you with ease? I mean does everyone act like in the game that Hawke is bi too, or are they cautious if you're of the same gender?
