Come on, that really seems like a cop out. Maybe they wanted to make it so that anyone could romance any party member, and not have to worry about gender or starting a new playthrough to experience it.
But it just seems so... unlikely. All of the varied and interesting people I picked up on my adventure swing both ways? Does the population of Thedas have a much greater percentage of bisexual citizens than our world?
Or did they include a cut-and-paste modular romance experience for both genders because it was easier?
**** that. These games are excellent therapy for being married, ha ha haMox Ruuga wrote...

If I could have it my way, there would be straight, bisexual, and exclusively gay love interests. But I can promise you if they were to create the characters to have realistic sexual identities, they would be flamed and flamed and flamed by people who are pissed off because they can't romance their favorite character without using a character that is not the same sex as them IRL, etc. It's unfortunate.
I for one would appreciate a fully lesbian or gay character, but what I would appreciate even more would be the radical decision from Bioware to make the next Dragon Age game the first one with NO romances AT ALL, straight or gay. Considering the interests and focus of the fanbase, that would be a ballsy move...

I've never played Dragon Age (I stick to ME), and I just had to check out this thread when I saw its title. I wonder if it (all LIs are bi) 's coming for ME3? Personally, I don't think it's a bad idea, actually I think it's a pretty good one. Unrealistic, maybe, (running into so many bisexuals in the same place), but hey, what's realistic about video games? I like to think while I'm playing my ME that it's deep enough that there's room in it for everybody. Wait a minute, that "deep" sounded pretty dangerous, ha ha ha

I think they made it very clear Shepard is straight and Liara is NOT female.

The first part of which is a reason why DAO is much better than ME, and the second one is kind of a lie.

I'm not sure who you think is lying, but it's not BobSmith. Casey "McDoucheyNuts" Hudson has stated that the Asari are not female (despite appearances and in-game references and codex enteries all stating the exact opposite). Apparently, this is why gay men aren't allowed to be upset that there's no m/m in ME. There wasn't any f/f either.

Hey, no one is saying you -have- to get with them. They just give you the oppertunity to avoid complaints down the line and inevitable mods that allow you to do such anyway.

For me I'd personally prefer it if the game would adjust to what you prefer in as much as its feasible; as in the cost of implementation shouldn't overshadow the benefits; having lots of romances available for example doesn't cheapen the game if done right; as in not every character will express themselves as romanceable characters, but you have to work for it before they cave in. Thus you wouldn't notice that character X is bi-sexual unless you played both a female and a male character, and in both instances tried to romance the same character.
& It's not about what's real, or you can't look at the love in DA2 and say its any less real than the combat, or almost anything else in the game. esp. if you view them not as bi-sexual, but customised to fit your character.
Rubbish.
The game world should adjust to the player? No. The player should adjust to the game world. Thedas (or any setting for that matter) should be populated with complete characters with developed personalities. Not some lumps of clay to mold into whatever fetish one might have.

They aren't Bi at all.
If you're a male hawk, they are gay.
If you're a female hawk, they are a lesbian.
Since you can't have both a male & female hawk at the same time, they are never Bi.

Unfortunately, these mods suck a bit. I used one to romance Morrigan as female and then my Warden had to get her pregnant personally, in spite of being a woman.
Well, I played a mage so I just went withA WIZARD DID IT
and everything was fine again :innocent:
