Changing the angle of one handed swords while on the back?

I'm expecting a big fat 'no, it's
impossible' on this one, but I thought I should throw it out there anyway.

It seems that in Dragon Age 2 the one handed
swords were given a new angle that they hang from from the character's back as opposed
to Origins. This results is that many of the swords are now going right through
the lower parts of some of the shields. This didn't bother me much in my first
playhtrough since I played a two handed warrior, so I didn't have to look at
his sword bouncing around inside a shield every time I was running around, but
now I'm trying a sword and shield warrior, and the issue is really immersion
breaking for me.

The thing is that I played a sword and shield
warrior several times in Origins, and I don't remember ever experiencing this.
I also don't remember the angle of the swords while on the back being as it is
now, I remember it to be more vertical, which of course meant that the swords
didn't go through the shields...

So, my question is this. Is there any way of
changing the angle of single-handed swords and/or changing the way swords hang
back to how they hung in Origins? This is not a 'everything Origins did was
better in every way' request, just a request from an aesthetic point of view.

Definitely an issue. Also, Isabela's daggers hover in midair. If someone could fix this, the game would be vastly improved.

It'd require adjusting skeleton information in the .mmh file for every piece of chest armour. Quite a bit of work.
