Day 1 purchase for me, I know too much about the game world and the story to back out now. It's like watching a movie halfway through and deciding you don't want to watch it anymore

If BIoware heeds our complaints and sees it as a guideline, I would gadly pre-purchase without even thinking twice. Though I will prepurchase anyways and wait for gameplay vids to decide if I am to cancel it or not.

I loved DA2, but if Bioware turns around and return back to their roots, DA3 would be awesome indeed.

I'm generally wary about preordering because it feels like in the first month games nowadays are still in beta. DA2 isn't really helping that perception. I might not preorder just for that reason alone, not because of an assessment of DA2's quality compared to Origins.

No, I will not buy DA3 immediatelly after release. I bought DA2. Next time I will be more careful and I will wait for reviews and watch players' feedback before I decide whether to buy that game.

I preordered Dragon Age 2 because I liked DAO without knowing a thing about it, big mistake. I won't be preordering Dragon Age 3 unless I see a lot of work has gone into repairing the game they have destroyed.

Every Bioware game is a day 1 purchase for me without exception.

That used to be the case for Squaresoft games in the 90's. Bioware is kind of like the new Squaresoft.

Depends on if there's a pre-order bonus like the Signature Edition.

No, but then I knew plenty about DA2 before I bought it. That's kind of an absurd standard because it's one very few on this forum almost by definition will qualify for.

The only people who do would be people who walk into a store or check a website on release day and it's the first time they've heard of it.  And in that case I'm not sure how bad I should feel for them if it turns out they don't like the game.

Also Monica you played the game at a demonstration and have been angry at the various changes for months - most of your posts I've ever read said basically the same thing dozens of times in fact - so you knew plenty as well.

So what's this thread for again?

Well, I tried my best not to find out anything about DA2 before it came out and I was there at 9am to pick up my copy on day of release. Alas, I still found out a few bits before I played though. I would love to know NOTHING for DA3..which I do hope will be better than 2, as I reiterate what has been said generally here in that Origins was soooo much better.

i hope not, Squaresoft both got me into jrpg's and burned me out on them... Bioware got me into wrpg's, they better not burn me out on wrpg's as well

Depends. If I never bought DA2, I would be dying to know why so many people hated it, so I would have to buy it anyway. I'm inclined never to pre-order again just because the game showed up a week late. Still, I suppose it would be a good idea to look at the reviews before buying next time. (No idea if I will be able to do that when ME3 comes out)

Day 1 for sure, I'll probably preorder as soon as a collector's edition is available.
I don't care if a game has flaws and it's not the best game ever, the important thing is that I enjoy it. Did a Bioware game ever failed to be enjoyable to me? No.

Only 2 other companies have my blind trust: Obsidian and Remedy (CD Project only published 1 game, so I don't consider them).

Loaded question, without knowing anything about it? No I stopped being that naive back in in Junior High School. I always research my potential purchases and look into the game and its design choices before I commit to buying.

Personally I don't have a real problem with DA2, its a cashgrab by comparison certainly but it allowed Bioware to experiment with a new narrative structure and this experience will improve their ability to provide convincing flexible narratives in future games.
People forget that gaming is an art still firmly in a growth stage, most of the complaints people have about DA2 are logistic and experience based complaints. The very shortcomings of DA2 are why later games using similar narrative structure, or even just borrowing pieces of the structure will be superior because of the experience they have with DA2.

People love to whine about narrow story structure but as anyone who has ever bothered to examine how a game is written, that is a huge task and one that requires trial and error like DA2 in order to learn from. Personally I find open games like Oblivion boring as sin, because there is so much to do but none of it has an importance.

A lot of the haters on here are missing something key, DA2 is a character driven narrative not an event driven narrative like DA:O. The Bioware games you love will get better from the experiences the staff of DA2 gained through working on this narrative, without experimenting with designs like this they will never be able to have the open world, choice based, character driven narrative, you're all whining for. It takes time, and it takes trial and error when you're navigating new creative seas.

Love the game or hate it, thats your choice, but at least understand what the heck it is you're railing against.

If you have a real hate on for Bioware wait for The Witcher 2.

If Bioware does something beyond simply patching the bugs to show they have at least some respect for the players. And that they are in fact listening carefully to the complaints then maybe, just maybe, I'd consider getting DA3 on day one.

Possibly, maybe.

At the moment? Not a chance in Hades. Even if the game comes with a real set of armour and a real world pet dragon.

I love both DAO and DA2, so yes, I am ready to preorder DA3 as soon as BioWare announces a collector's edition.

I never buy anything before informing me about it first, unless it´s up for 5€ max and I´m bored.

My first ever pre-order was DA2.

What I got for pre-ordering was no auto-attack and game breaking (Isabella slow motion) bugs.

I learned my lesson. So not worth a sword or belt that you are not going to use for a long time in the game anyway to pre-order. I'll wait from now on.

Nope, not preordering. Not only I've lost my trust in BioWare, I've lost my Dragon Age hype too. I think that they've ruined the series with the release of DA2. It was that bad.
