I loved the final battle and that so many NPCs from the game come to help. I was wondering if who comes varies depending on your actions. I was a pro-mage rogue with a party of Aveline, Varric, and Anders. I had convinced Fenris to re-join the party, and had never had Isabela rejoin after Act 2. I was joined by Donnic, Cullen, Zevran, Fenris, and Bethany.

Any of your party members not in your active party will fight as NPC's if they side with you during the final quest.
If you completed "A Trial of Crows" on Zevran's side, he'll join you.
Cullen will join you provided you aren't a real jerk to him.
If you did Nathaniel Howe's quest, he'll join you.
Donnic I think is dependent on whether you get Aveline married to him.
If you side with the mages and Carver is a templar, he'll join you for the final battle only along with Cullen. If you side with the templars and Bethany is in the Circle, you have to intervene when Meredith attempts to kill her.Then she'll join you.
