I finished the ME2 a couple of months ago, but was going to get into DLC.

1) Can I pick up where I ended the game or do I have to restart?
2) Any recommendation one the order of DLC to get.

Thanks

1) You can do it where you left off.
2) The 2 highest rated DLCs so far were Overlord, and Lair of the Shadowbroker. Arrival will be...arriving soon, and will likely be one of the higher rated DLCs of ME.

You can play all DLC after the end of the game.

Order doesn't really matter, though I'd suggest leaving Lair of the Shadow Broker until last, since it's the best. Might as well play them in release order:
1. Zaeed
2. Firewalker
3. Kasumi
4. Overlord
5. Shadow Broker

Zaeed and Kasumi only really make sense if you play them before the end, but there's nothing stopping you playing them after. You just have to rationalise why you're recruiting them some other way.

If you can only play two, I'd suggest Overlord and Broker.

In order.

Yes and no, yes because you can do them all after the suicide mission and Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival (when it's released) make more sense that way, and no because it's better to recruit Kasumi before the suicide mission like everyone else.

It doesn't really matter what order you do them in, but personally I advise Zaeed and Kasumi be done any time pre-IFF mission just like any other recruitment and loyalty mission, Firewalker anytime before Overlord simply so the Hammerhead doesn't magically appear aboard the Normandy, and then everything else in whatever order you want. I generally save Shadow Broker for last, but will probably switch to Arrival being last once it comes out.

All DLC can be played after the final mission. However Firewalker, Kasumi, Zaeed and Overlord are best played before the final mission, simply so you get access to the squadmates and research that they provide (plus it makes more sense from a story point of view, especially if you went for the paragon ending). But if you've finished the game, there isn't any need to start again,

I prefer playing LotSB after the final mission as you get different dialogue with Liara and the reunion scene at the end of the DLC carries more weight post-final mission.

In terms of order I would do Firewalker Kasumi, Zaeed and Overlord in any order you want, but I would save LotSB to the very end. Overall though, there is no right or wrong way of doing the DLC.

I usually save Overlord for post-game, mainly so I can take Legion along and be able to justify my Shepard taking the paragon action since he'd normally say the good of the many outweigh the good of the few, but knowing what he does thanks to Legion this is a moot point in this situation.

I play LotSB just after arriving on Illium. Before gaining access to the Shadow Broker's terminal, I don't think I'd ever evolved one of my squad's loyalty powers. Playing on insanity only it helps if you always use squad points asap, so you're left with not enough for the bonus power.

I usually do the DLCs asap, unless I'm going Paragon in which case I'll leave Zaeed's loyalty until I've got a high enough paragon score to save the workers AND gain his loyalty.

Generally I'd suggest playing all of them pre-Suicide Mission, except Lair of the Shadow Broker. It fits a little better to play Shadow Broker after the Suicide Mission, but none of the others make much sense after.

My order would be: Zaeed -> Kasumi (always best to get all your squadmates asap, gives you more choice for squad formation in later missions) -> Firewalker -> Overlord -> (Suicide Mission) -> Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Shadow Broker and Overlord are best. Zaeed and Kasumi are both cool too, because I love having as many squaddies as possible. I prefer Kasumi as a character but I prefer Zaeed's loyalty mission. Firewalker isn't great, but if you ignore Firewalker and head straight to Overlord then the latter doesn't make too much sense, because the Hammerhead will just appear out of nowhere. Overlord is good too though, so I wouldn't miss out on that.

Overlord was rated higher than Kasumi? REALLY?

Let me attach an YMMV to that one, Overlord isn't bad by any stretch of imagination, but I thought both Kasumi and LotSB were awesome.

the order i've been going in for the dlc is:

firewalker(right after freedom's progress)
zaeed(after firewalker)
kasumi(after zaeed)
overlord(after suicide mission)
lotsb(after overlord)

Doesn't matter.

I usually go:

Kasumi
Zaeed
Firewalker
LoTSB

I do not bother with Overlord until after everything else has been done (including side mission), I just hate that DLC by now.

Personally:
1) Kasumi (DAT Locust)
2) firewalker (pick up the Hammerhead, grab the Prothean sphere, save rest for whenever)
3) Overlord (depends on when I pick up Legion)
4) LotSB (usually post-SM, before if I'm doing a non-canon playthrough/ if I need resources)

Zaeed's loyalty timing depends on if he's going to die/ if I really want a flamethrower

Aside from the recruitment of Zaeed and Kasumi and their respective loyalty missions I always follow the suicide mission in the order the DLC came out. Does anyone else feel that perhaps thats the way the developers intended it?

What's wrong with Overlord?

I'd play kasumi, then overlord, then shadow broker.

Firewalker? I haven't played me2 since I beat it shortly after release. I'm now going to do a playthrough to prepare for me3 and this time have all my squad survive. I'm downloading the dlc now. I see overlord, lotsb, kasumi and arrival. What's firewalker? And cannon would be lotsb and arrival after sm and the rest before right?

Arrival doesn't make much sense before SM, so you sould play it after the SM.

Oh really? I would have thought arrival would be the last tie in before me3. I also can't find that fire dlc pack I must be blind.

Do you have the Cerberus Network?  I think you have to have that before Firewalker is available.

I like Shadow Broker better post-suicide-mission.  The dialogue with Liara changes if you've been to the Collector base.  It's not a huge difference, though.

Liara mentions that you took down the Collectors (despite your decision at the end as far as the base, they're gone) and a couple of other lines are different.  It's really, really minor, but it's interesting that Liara notices.
