I made this thread because I was a little worried after DA2 (my opinion only)

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a homophobe. This is just how I feel. This is not homophobic. Anybody who calls me one is just as bad as the ones who ARE anti gay.

Why? For the following reasons:

1. It cheapens the romances.
2. The romances lose their uniqueness (kind of like 1, but whatever)
3. It's unrealistic. Not everyone in life is bisexual. (it's a game, sure, but ME should be one of the realistic kind)
4. If it happened, there would be arguments over whether Manshep or Femshep is better with x character.
5. DA2 tried this, but if you ask me, it didn't feel as good as the ME romances.
6. It's a bit late to make them bi in ME3. ME1 was released in 2007 or something. If they were going to be bi, it should have been then.
7. Wouldn't it be awkward if the LIs were just suddenly bi? It would seem like it was done just to appease people (which is LAME)

EDIT:
8. If at least ONE person that could have been bi, it should have been Jack (my opinion)
Also, I am not against Lis being bi, just changing pre existing ones. I'm fine with new characters.

So do you agree with me? Do you disagree?

Discuss.

The issue with DA2, I just take it as they fall for Hawke, not due to his/her gender. Its moulds around your playthrough.

But not sure with ME3, there are more romances within ME1/2 and would there really be time to have a new one at all?

But the only issue with ME series is that there are none for the same-sex populace..which is a shame really.

True, it's a shame that there are no same sex romances in ME (unless they make a new character). I just feel that already straight characters shouldn't just randomly turn bi at the end of the series.

I think some LI's shouldnt be bisexual. Its just not in their character. Take Wrex for example. Or Jacob. Or Garrus. I dont see it in them and making them bi just to satisfy a hyper-specific demography belittles their characters.

It's a different team, and it's unlikely to be an issue. Personally, the only character I would want to romance in ME2 is female, and I only play female Shepard, so I disagree with the OP. But it's not a deal breaker, and I'm not expecting any major changes in the devs policy regarding this in ME3.

Just out of curiosity, would you care if they introduced a few totally new LI characters in ME3, who happened to be bisexual?

No, I wouldn't care at all.

I agree. Maybe it can work for women LIs with femshep because let's be honest, they can pretty much pick and choose. Men, OTOH, are either gay or they're not.

Personally, I don't care. As long as they do it better than DA2. I don't like being aggressively pursued by anyone, much less getting rivalry points for pointing out that I'm heterosexual. The parallel would be getting renegade points for not being gay. Stupid. Keep ALL romances tasteful and optional Bioware. We're here to save the universe - its not a freaking nightclub.

Change is coming...

For Male LIs...

If you're a Male Shepard they can be Gay if you pursue them.

If you're a Female Shepard they will be Straight if you pursue them.

Female LIs...

If you're a Male Shepard they will be Straight if you pursue them.

If you're a Female Shepard they can be Gay if you pursue them.

Liara...

Doesn't matter, she's the only true Bi character and will mess with any Shepard.

Agreed. It would, at least to me, feel forcibly tacked on and overly contrived. Sexuality, while generally poor basis for judgement, is an undeniable part of ones character. Regardless of ones approach to such stimuli, one will be influenced by it, even if on a purely hormonal level.

Yeah gotta agree with the OP here, If Garrus turns to me and tells me he likes my body Im done with Bioware.

Keep your core demographic happy and we will buy your 17 DLCs :)

The second a male character hits up on my male Shepard I'm turining the game off and never launching it again.

If there new characters, fine, but not the ones we spent two games (or one) with.

shepard needs a rabid gay stalker fan just so the people on the forums gets a taste of what we do to the other characters in the game.

I think its highly unlikely that you'll be able to initiate romances with existing characters in ME3 again. They've covered those bases in ME2 and ME1. Creating all new romance dialogues for characters who already have romance dialogues doesn't sound plausible.

Tali and Ashley(Hell, she was supposed to be Bi but it was pulled later in Development) hinted that they had an attraction for Female Shepard as well.

It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to make even the old Characters like the same gender.

It'll just be like Tali suddenly confessing in ME2 that she always loved Shepard but hide this till than!

Of course since the ME2 Squaddies can all die I doubt they'll give an romance in ME3 let alone be in your Squad anymore.Posted Image

"4. If it happened, there would be arguments over whether Manshep or Femshep is better with x character."

Not pointing fingers or attacking folks, but, there IS a fanbase that has these kinds of arguments. I don't want to see this on ALL the character support group threads. It's just annoying and pointless.

[EDIT] Clarity

Remember that all of the information we have on the characters comes from Bioware, and even the dossiers in the LotSB expansion still leave room for newly generated personal material to be added (i.e. Garrus has ALWAYS had a crush on you and been bisexual but couldn't muster the nerve to tell you till the Galaxy is most likely coming to and end.)

In regards to whether or not the characters should even offer same sex interests, I must take a stance in opposition to the OP.

To put it simply, if that is not something you wish to partake in, the game mechanic most likely will allow you to opt out (i.e. you don't HAVE to romance anyone, or could just romance a girl.)   Even more simply, if it bothers you then don't buy the game, there are plenty of other things sitting on the shelf at the game store.

That being said, I feel it's only fair to offer same sex LIs for those who desire such.  Call it pandering to a hyper-demographic who is screaming the loudest if you must, but I know that the anti-gay homophobic lobby who calls themselves such and acts as such is clamoring just as loudly, and NOT for fairness.

I agree in principle.  I'm not opposed to concept of some LIs being bi, but it has to be believable as a part of that character.  For example, Kelly in ME2 was bisexual and it was completely believable, as that was part of her character.  It would make zero sense if Tali, Kaidan, or Ashley were suddenly to become bisexual.
