Honestly I'm not too bothered by my reputation of being some sort of mega-troll among your circle. I'm fine with whatever labels when your sense of trolling is so backwards to the point where picture spamming isn't trolling.

Of that I have no doubt. You obviously cultivate a very specific persona here, a belligerent iconoclast, and are generally just unpleasant. You try to cloak your diatribes in shades of freedom and whatnot, but what it boils down to is that you do not Work And Play Well With Others, and you clearly resent the fact that not everyone gives a fig what you think or what you say. You pop into threads, say obnoxious things, and pop right on out again. You're not going to be winning any congeniality awards, that's for sure. But to you, being cooperative and courteous is anathema, you think that you are somehow entitled to insult everyone around you as some sort of God-given right or something. Well, I don't think that's freedom, that's just bullying.

Isn't that what you've been doing?

Yes.

As amusing as your exchanges are, I think you should take this little discussion to PM. It seems to be a rather private moment between you two. ;)

Whenever I play a male Shep, Conrad Verner comes off this way.

It's likely that ME3 will continue your existing relationship with Liara as the default. I think I read somewhere that Bioware had no intention of including openly bi/gay characters in Mass Effect. Liara gets around that rule by being an alien.

Except they _already did it_. ME1 had bi romance dialogue for all 3 LI's. As of ME2, there are 9 total romance options. They don't have to make every single LI bisexual. I get the feeling that having Kaiden/Ash be bisexual for ME3 would be enough.

The reasons why they dummied out same-sex human LI's was never because of money--after all, they were there in me1! The reason is because having Kaiden or Garrus making a pass at Sheploo is potentially going to ****** some people off.

oh for the love of.  they did NOT have bi dialogue for all 3 LI's.  they changed the names from Ashley to Kaidan and the other way around in 2 phrases for Ilos scene and had Hale/Meer record them.  that's IT.

I'm afriad I'm goign to have to repeat myself here, but hey why not.  did they plan to make Ashley/Kaidan bi? yes, seems that way.  did they scrap it becasue they were lasy or because someone was whining about it?  doesn't seem like it.  coult they have possible scrapped it becasue they ran out of time/budjet to write it properly?  absolutely yes.

why do I think that way?  look at the neuances and development of romances through the game.  it starts with Eden prime, where you save your potential LI, they show concern while the other character radios for normandy.  it continues with extra dialogue, battle field flirting, offhand comments.  it permeates the entire game, its what gives it Depth.  in order for it to work for same sex relationship while retaining the same depth, they would have to add something of similar nature, little extras here and there, probably even redo the scenes that showcase atraction and flirting of one character but not the other and do it in such a way as to allow someone who's not interested to let characters down early and difinitively.  change a lot of the animations. do you see where i'm going with this?  it would have been a lot more time consuming and complex then changing a few phrases here and there. which is most likely why they focused only on oposite sex romances.

now, can they retcon in in ME3 with a simple "I just haven't told you before" ?  yes, they can.  they did it in DA2 after all, multiple times in fact and not just when it comes to romance.  would it be a good solution, would it allow for the same depth as they wrote into straight relationships from ME1?  personaly, I don't thinks so.  but YMMV and judging by  a lot of the opinions - people don't even care if there's any sort of percistant character development across all games  they want their paralel univerce and if they cannot have it - they will mod it and pretend that it exists.

can this be done better, can this be expanded beleivable?  yes after brainstorming several very beleivable same sex romantic possibilities that invovle canonocaly straight characters for fanfic ideas, I beleive it can be and in such a way that makes characters retain their intergrity through all games, not just select few.  does ME team have the time and budget for it?  (not to mention sensitivity?)  I highly doubt it.  so if they do write it in, it will be done the same way as ammo clips - it was always this way, and you should just forget that it was ever done differently.

I wish they didn't.  its too late to change it now though, regardless of what they decide.

As the romances are entirely optional, there is no reason why this should even be an issue. I get that some people are morally opposed to same-sex romances, but if you don't like them, don't do them. If there was same-sex romances in ME1, I probably would not have known unless I spent months reading ever bit of information on the wiki like an obsessed creep... which I did.

For me, I don't care if they're there as long as they are done tastefully.

Also, BioWare is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't position with these types of romances. If they don't have same sex romances, then the homosexual/bisexual crowd may feel left out or insulted. If they do include them then people whose moral compasses oppose such things will be offended.

As the romances would be ENTIRELY OPTIONAL, there is no real reason to complain. If your interested in that kind of stuff, then they are there. If your not, don't do them.
The only way i would be offended would be if it was forced on me. I feel as if BioWare could have done a better job allowing Shep to be 'just friends' with his/her crewmates, particularly with Jack. I can't even remember how many times she's ninjamanced me. I wasn't upset, I just reloaded from a backup save and continued playing. More gametime. More fun.

Let's just make everyone gay. There have been enough straight romances in games as it is.

How about we remove all romances altogether? That's the most fair solution, right? That way, nobody can feel left out, since EVERYONE is left out. Honestly, it would probably be a better game if BioWare wasn't so busy trying to accommodate all of the fans' niche desires. And we are talking about a game about a galactic invasion, after all. I'm thinking I'd have other things on my mind besides romance if all sentient life was being threatened with extinction, but maybe that's just me.

I did, and that's my solution.

If they're all gay in DA3 then they don't have to divide the funds for a single LI over both player sexes.

You get a more unique feel to it because they you won't have similar dialogue.

Everyone wins.

I'm a big fan of  the Matrix  and other stories like that, so romance and saving the world kinda go hand in hand in my head, personaly.  and its too late to close that particular door - bioware is infamous for adding romantic subplots into their games.

No, but evidence stands against you as it is. The OP is clearly hypocritical in being a Talimancer that is well a fan of that retcon, but also thinking that a retcon involving who you can romance would ruin the character.

Speaking as one of the aforementioned "idiots", no, you wouldn't be evil if you agreed with the OPs stated opinion in the original post. A case can be made for character continuity, etc. Unfortunately that case has never actually been made in this thread. It's all been "reasons" along the lines of "it would be weird because none of them ever acted gay before" and ridiculous and offensive stuff like that. So, by all means feel free to weigh in with legitimate concerns, I'm sure a lot of people would like to discuss them. Anything coherent and well-considered would be a breath of fresh air in this thread and in this community.
