Rammy, you're an awesome Tali fan and everything, but Paci has you there.

Also, bi relationships are fine. As long as they don't change the existing sexuality of squaddies in Mass Effect, or make a character that doesn't suit bisexuality, bisexual, then I'm fine. Dragon Age 2 did the bi thing fine, apart from what I said earlier about it not really suiting Aveline or Anders much.

Actually, I've been saying that bi LIs are fine, just don't change the LIs we already have. New characters is a better idea, if you ask me.

EDIT: new characters being bi or gay, that is.

@Bourne Endeavor: lol at that pic. I love it.

Still it irks me that stupid forced smile with Izzy is okay. Bleh. I didn't want to smile at that backstabber.

Though yes Anders does try to jump in your pants. But he does this to both female and male Hawke. I'm not sure why male Hawke is the only one mentioned.

It was brought up as a reason why people are reticent at a love interest being available for both genders. Try as you might to shield one's eyes from Teh Gay, something like the Anders flirtation could still occur and someone trying to avoid Teh Gay would be smacked in the face by it.

Not a problem for me, but I do know that there are people out there who seriously cannot handle it, and so they argue the homosexual option shouldn't exist just to spare their minds. Options then are a) it's gonna happen, deal with it, B) we will shield you with the mighty "do not click unless you want dick" heart icon, or c) remove the option altogether. Unfortunately, reaction is strong enough to make developers lean toward option c even though I'm of mind to go with a.

at first i really didnt care one way or the other on this issue and had my fun pointing out people's hypocrisies and the like but that gave me a good laugh. so much so that i shall support bi/ "Teh Gay" LI for 3

It's just a humerous take on the Anders forced flirt scene. Hawke is thinking in his head "Put him down gently". Next panel, Hawke says hi to anders. Next panel after that, Hawke is in bed with Anders. Hawke says *Dammit!*

You have to admit it's pretty funny.

I don't see the obsession with friendship with Anders. Rvialry is much better. <3

On another note
@ Ryn

Your sig is a lie. Stereotypes indicate chicks dig bad boys, which would be renegades. If they dig paragons that would obviously be taking a risk, which that thread and Mass Effect is not about.

Now click this.

Well said, Bourne.  Also, I lol'd.  Taking risks is bad, mmmkay?!  The devs need to stick to their guns and keep the hetero alien/human relationships and stay away from those pesky s/s human relationships!  That would be such a weird retcon. :o

I was just letting the flow of the friendship happen naturally, and it happened to head toward friendship despite the fact I leaned more toward the Templar side of things.

That flirt scene just felt so jarring and forced....

Ha. You think that was forced? Try hittig on him after he finishes telling you about his (maybe) recently deceased lover. =] "Let's start talking about me again." indeed. Smooth Hawke...real smooth.

Sorry if I misunderstood Rammi, I guess the topic title was a little misleading!

And don't say that ME3 should have new squaddies! Team dextro must stay :P

Miranda is not 15 and the characters are fairly well established it would be absurd if done abruptly

LOL Don't worry about it. What I mean by new characters is adding them along with the ones we already have. That way everyone can be happy.

To me you choosing A is just as prejudice as a C is.

I'm probably thinking of all those playthroughs of Mass Effect 1 where I had to deal with the unwanted romances, but it comes across pretty much the same to me. Having to fend off Kaidan with my female Shepard would be the same as fending off Ash with my female Shepard. Awkward.

I don't think it's fair that there are no options, but I also don't think it's fair to force anyone to "deal with it". I think DA:O was fair, like I said I found Zevran off putting, but then I found Zevran to be a bit creepy with my female elf warden.
Comprising could be done in the ways we already talked about, and although I think it's unlikely we'll see S/S relationships for maleshep at least in ME3, I do think future games should attempt to reach a middle ground. And also have cool English people in it like me!

In theory however this does leave us with eight heterosexual romances, one bisexual and alien who sleeps with anything. The real compromise would be what I suggested previously and would cost less than creating an entirely new character people may or may not like. (see Carth)

Why wait when we can have BIG BEN SNIPER GUY FOR MALE LOVE INTEREST IN ME3!

I mean, other than you're not keen on those type of relationships.

It would be awesome, though.

Well this happens a lot for the gay male gamer in the ME series but you don't see them posting a bunch of threads about how unfair it is that their Shep gets hit on by women.

True but they are in the minority. But maybe in addition to my Turn off same sex relationship button, there could also be a Turn off opposite sex relationship button! I'm a genius  It could be found near the Turn off reapers button, for those who oppose war and violence.

Also, a reason why I think it will cheapen and make the romances less unique. It makes Manshep and Femshep EXACTLY THE SAME. What's great about ME is that you have incentives to play as either gender (as somebody has stated), and that's the romances (my opinion)

What do I mean by this? Well, look who is available for Manshep exclusively:

Tali, Miranda, Jack, and Ashley.

Who is available for Femshep?

Jacob, Thane, Kaidan, Garrus.

And Liara is for both.

I play as Manshep for Tali and Liara.

I play as Femshep for Garrus and Thane.

Those are the only reasons why I ever pick between genders.

If they were all bi, it basically destroys the purpose of having two genders to play as. I might as well just play as Manshep (since he's the poster Shepard) and not even bother playing as Femshep, because I can get the same thing with Manshep. There is no longer an incentive, and it loses it's uniqueness.

That's more or less what I mean.

I don't agree with you on this, I'd still prefer to play as FemShep for the male romances (as long it's not Jacob - the only thing I liked there was the break up!). It only loses it's uniqueness from your perspective if you play out a s/s relationship as well as the fem/male one. If you want it to be unique play one or the other.

There are lots of things in the game that people have to deal with and might not be comfy with but there is no button to switch them off.  I hated how TIM was glorified in ME2 and Shepard became his pet.  It would have been nice to have a choice there but there wasn't.  So what did I do?  I dealt with it.  Same could be said for a hetero male gamer.  There are plenty of instances in the game that I don't like my lesbian FemShep encountering but I deal with it.  Why don't you guys wear our shoes for once since we have to deal with these things all the time?

Ramirez Wolfen wrote...

Yes,that's what you do but there are plenty of people who can't sit through
5 mins of FemShep or MaleShep and won't ever get to see the romance of a certain character they like.  Even if someone could sit though the whole game just to see the romance there are many people would rather
roleplay the relationship as a s/s one.  I do that with Liara and FemShep even though the romance has mostly all the same dialog options in the MaleShep version.
