daforums was nice for a couple weeks. Hopefully IGN or someone starts up a new forum for DA.

I agree.

As for responses from a Bioware dev. -if you check the spoiler forums, they're plenty of help provided by the Bioware devs. - even on this site.
I think it would be beneficial if and when we could get the chance to ask for how many responses we'd like to see, like 10 or 20. Or how many threads we'd like to see...
A bioware tech dev. said something about that the other forums were going on 5 year old code? And that is was necessary to do this update for the forums...
Another resason could be that Bioware wants to reach out to a different audience than its trusty PC fans; they need to make sure that the have fans in the future...

I liked the old forums, too. I'm beginning to like these new forums as well. I'm a bit annoyed, though, by the (small) size of the font used, but I can find a way around that.
Yes, I also think the font here is tiiiiny without any modification. I'll probably end up enlarging it too.

Edit: A-ha! I have to register my copy of the game! Excellent obvious detection there, self.

Or someone you can pester with it?
I am driving myself mad because I need some info BADLY and can't find it *rips out hair* and I'd much rather play the game. Before I am so mad, I throw it ou the window.

I just remember that the site it was on had light background, not dark. And I accidentally closed the tab before I bookmarked the site.

Fans who don't mind wrestling with broken functionality? What demographic would that be?
It's not that I'm opposed to change, but between the fragmentation of the community into interest groups, and things just not reliably working, it's a lot harder to find information than it was on the old forums. I much preferred more centralized discussion of things like class mechanics.

And what is up with all these useless facebook-like features such as recent activity? I mean why oh why would I care if a certain user, that I'm not even tracking or anything like that, joined the 'Bearded Men' group?? That's just bad design IMO.
At least give me a choice to hide that kind of stuff. I just want a simple and clean home page without all that useless clutter.
EDIT: I just found out that I can disable the recent activity feed (should have been able to completely remove it from the home page however). The filters link sure is easy to miss. I still think the site is badly designed though.

Er, sorry if that has been mentioned,
but why exactly were the original forums shut down for this game and
the other ones for different bioware games remain?
AFAIK, Bioware always closes its old forums when the release dates arrive, and starts new forums at the same time. This social thing had a three week lead on the release date. But all forums eventually will move, just that choosing DA:O instead of something less popular seems illogical somehow, to me!

So, did anyone find the promised archives by now?
The first of the four is back, but in a garish neon blue at this URL: forums.bioware.com/viewforum.html
Happy?
It did trick me into a silly mistake, though. Six hours AFTER the forums there had been moved away out of access reach by ordinary members, a moderator had added a reply to an idiot messager about really overstepping the user agreement here. The current layout still includes both a "Post Reply" and a "New Topic" at the bottom.
I forgot it was an archive, seeing that, and tried to add a comment. I got a very generic error message about what I can do or cannot do, not a reminder that I was in the Archives.

Thanks for the link.
But I am too blinded for now to find a button where to change the theme... *squint* did they put it in the same stupid forum as this? Well, better than nothing, I guess *sigh*. But how can one find an old posting, if one can't use the search??
But what did you mean by "first of four"?
Dammit, I'm still searching for the preview button - I can't work like that!
Edit: Nevermind, I got the meaning of FOUR. ;-)

If you want to see something ridiculous, visit NWN2's forums.
Be that as it may, there is no option anywhere to select a larger font, outside of your own browser (the Opera default is better than the FireFox or Sea Monkey defaults), or over-ride the color scheme, and you can choose your own colors, but they will be applied browser-wide, to everything.

By shutting down the old DA forums, our moderators now have half as many sites to worry about, and therefore have twice as much time to make *these* forums better.
