Let's keep the sociopolitical discussion away from discussion of Isabela, please. that way lies madness, and far too much Moderator attention to this thread.
Yay - Stanley Woo on MY thread!!!! How exciting - I remember you back in the old days, closing down my threads all the time
Love ya Stanley x
But back on topic - NOT AS MUCH AS I LOVE ISABELA
Yes, he seems to do that quite zealously. I think he has control issues.
ps I may get banned for that but it's ok. I find the "police state" atmosphere here quite oppressive,
I can understand the want to keep real world drama away from the forum, even when the game brings it up.
And I can respect it and try to avoid to, so no big deal - besides there are other forums that are less restrictive, or more - depending on what you want.
A good game, imo, addresses contemporary socio-political issues in an alternative setting.
The devs clearly went out of their way to create a character that challenged "traditional" views of femininity and chastity (clearly a FEMINIST viewpoint) - yet this can't be discussed on the forum in a polite way without flaming?
Give me a ****ing break.
Normally they can't no - feminism is not abortion or religion, but is also one of those things that does add lots of fuel to the flames.
Personally I find it sad, as I would love to have the dialogue, but I can understand that the mods don't want it, and might not even be able to control such a discussion to the extent they require.
And the forums are not the game, so even if the game would try really hard to comment on social-political issues that doesn't mean that they would want it on the forums.
& Personally I don't call myself a feminist - but I'm supportive of it, and hold the same views in many regards (just don't need more -isms than I already carry around) - so this isn't me trying to fight against it.
& I do find the article posted, that lead to this, with the extra comment, to be a good view of how I see Isabela - and I'm as positive as the commentator (saying that the outfit and the fanservice it brings ) still makes her less than ideal, but then I'd agree with the article that one of the points is rather that its refreshing when strong women are allowed to be less, and thus in a sense more than ideal.
That said there are good forums that are more open than this for such debates - even if most of them tend to become circlejerks.
