This.  I didn't even like Hawke as much as I liked her and he's suppose to be "my character".

Isabella... I dunno.  She's a fine companion, which I wont deny, but I was in a relationship with her when I played through and regretted it.  She never changed because of it and she was not that interesting to have in the party unless you wanted sex jokes with Varric or a lude comment in the conversations you were having.  All in all I'd say Morrigan was a better character not because she was harder to conquer but because she had an emotional depth Isabella seems to seriously lack.  While I'm sure this isn't intended and she has that potential, I never saw anything besides a few soft voiced scenes.  Never once saw her face fold up and her voice break like Morrigan did.

To me that defines the whole character.

You get to know Isabela very well, you just have to read between the lines.

Its more about saveing the esence of an encient god(corrupted) from extinction then her wanting a god baby.
That and this child may be the next Andreaste of that world for all we know.
That and who wouldn't want to have a god baby? its a safe retirement plan and I'm sure Morigan had this in minde to, knowing here.

I like Isabella. There were times when I wanted to throttle her for the crap that she pulled. I'm still on my first run though. She just opened up to me telling me how much she likes me. So no idea what happens after that. But so far I like her. I really hope they ride off on the ship together. LOL I've not really tried to romance anyone else. Aveline for a bit till she fell for that other guard.

I agree. Bethany was a great character with great dialogue.
I think that Isabela was also great. She turned out for hotter than initial screenshots showed. I'm not a boob guy, so they were rather disappointingly large. Her exchanges between other characters, especially with Bethany, Merrill, Aveline, and Sabastian were great though, and she had a conscience.

Isabella does have STDs, didnt you ever stop by Ander's room and have Isabella pick up a perscription.... anyway my thoughts on her, sure shes nice to look at and i got a chuckle or two from her jokes and her cat fighting with Avaline but at the end of the day she doesnt have much substance. (not that Merrill is any better) this is probably the first Bioware game i play where most of my main protagonists will go without a love interest. The LI in this game (at least from a Hetro male Point of View) just dont hold a candle to Bastilla, Leliana, Morrigan, or Viconia DeVir (if you want to go old school). Just my 2c

Go with the rival romance with Isabella and you'll be able to make her a better person. My character was just shouting at her and doing everything she hated. Then she fell for him. So she wasn't that bad but seriously, I would have preferred better romance options for male characters. Merill is a blood mage and Isabella is a ****.

I didnt like her, or any other companion.

All of them were very shallow and party banter is the only way to hear them talk....

For my warrior Hawke's specialization, I went with "Anger Management Therapist" so I could deal more easily with Anders and Fenris.

Depends on your definition of "conquest" - you could bed Morrigan straight out of Lothering if you wanted to, hardly a challenge in that regard.

Otherwise, I have a special hatred for both Isabela and Anders for forcing idiotic action where their was room for compromise. Those who wrapped up the story know what I speak of.

I really disliked Morrigan, but it was because of her character (so in a way, she was more interesting, because it was herself that I disliked).

Isabela is just beneath notice. She's the single most boring and nearly invisible character in whole DA2. Save maybe Carver when he dies right off the bat. Seriously, she's just a air-filled doll. She has no personality to speak of, and there doesn't seem to be anything giving even a glint of intellect in her head.
She's the caricature of the promiscuous airhead, her only interests in life seems to be getting laid, getting money and making superficial comment.

Otherwise, I have a special hatred for both Isabela and Anders for

wrapped up the story know what I speak of.

Oh God yes...
And the most annoying thing is : Isabela shares the "plot immunity" that Morrigan had.
Seriously, I was just stunned to see that the only answers I could give her when I was wanting to say "I'll kill you" were "I'm your friend !" and "You're not that bad !".
HELLO ? Where is the "yes you're a waste of air" answer ?

I love Isabella. In fact having Isabella in your party with Aveline makes for some of the funniest dialog I've ever heard in a game. Some faves:

* Isabela: Well. "Captain." Can I call you captain? You can call me captain.
* Aveline: I won't be doing that.
* Isabela: Neither will I. Because you're a guard captain. No real authority. Not like on a ship.
* Aveline: Well, you would know about having a large number of men under you.
* Isabela: You've been waiting to use that one. Did you practice?
* Aveline: Shut up.

* Aveline: I know you have to be prepared for the random phallus, but for your own safety, please shut your mouth!

* Aveline: I had trouble with another one of your women, Isabela. She stole from a... distracted client. You're lucky she wasn't jailed.
* Isabela: My women? I am but a shepherd. And what free enterprise are you oppressing now?
* Aveline: Theft is not enterprise.
* Isabela: Opportunities insufficiently guarded. Victimless crimes.
* Aveline: Except for all the victims.
* Isabela: Details. Victimless details.

* Aveline: Many of the guards have their lives because of me.
* Isabela: But meanwhile, poor you, no life of your own.
* Aveline: We both put others above ourselves. I just happen to keep my clothes on.

Hu, yes, sex jokes are fun (I really laughed at some of them).

But that doesn't really make the depth of a character (unless in a strictly physical way).
Remove sex jokes from Isabela, and you have... well, absolutely nothing. The emptiness of her character is the only thing that really stroke me.

After using Merrill as a bludgeoning device to kill Fenris (healthy romance between the three of us, eh?) and Anders being strapped to my left arm to deflect Meredith's attacks, the only person with any life left in them that would romance me was Isabela.

Sadly, she grabbed a book and ran for it.
