Viconia was way cooler than Aerie. But my favorite Bioware character of all time was Dak'kon from Planescape:Torment.Incorrect. You are probably too young to have played Baldur's Gate II, but Aerie was the best character in a Bioware game.
Love for Isabela

Oh wow, I'm at a loss for words. This is just...offensive to the human race.

I've said it in another thread and will repeat it here. I think Isabella is Biowares best ever companion character. Combines humour, emotion and an interesting story. The writing, art and voice acting all came together perfectly.
Incorrect. You are probably too young to have played Baldur's Gate II, but Aerie was the best character in a Bioware game.
Incorrect. Your assumption, not your subjective opinion. I played BG2 (and BG1) and I thought while the concept of Aerie was OK she was somewhat shallow, more irritating than sweet, and utterly devoid of humour. I think for a powerful mage, her lack of confidence was difficult to accept. The story around her was less detailed and some of the execution (like when she had a baby) was cringe worthy. Although I did like the potential love triangle with HareD'lise(sp), best part of her story. In terms of the writing, BG was more targetted at a younger audience so the stories tended to be slightly less mature. Her voice acting (what there was of it) was simply not in the same ballpark, although in fairness it probably wasn't a professional job. I don't think it would be fair to compare the character model, these days they are obviously all much better but that does help make better characters.
I doubt we will see eye to eye on this largely because I simply can't see where you are coming from when you posted...

I was thinking WTF? and didn't really think you were being serious at first.
Isabella is also sweet and vulnerable btw.

Bioware seems to have really dropped the ball on romances after BG2. In BG2, there was Aerie, the sweet and vulnerable type, who was an awesome romance because it gave you something to protect. Without passing judgement on your views - Merrill anyone?
I don´t know of any woman, neither in real life nor in games, who fulfills the "sweet and helpless" stereotype better than her.

Naive (in regards to humans) <> sweet and helpless. She is probably the most powerful companion in game and story terms. And she is very determined and focused.Tirigon wrote...

Question, which one do you think looks more like a pirate? They simply didn't devote any time to give her a unique model in origins because she played an extremely minor part. I'm struggling to understand how you can be disturbed about this.Tirigon wrote...

True but she doesn´t seem so. You would only notice that if you would try anything funny on her, probably by means of seeing your own body explode.
But since our mister protector wouldn´t harm her, ever, he´d never know.

The DAO one looks much better, though.
Ok, the second one looks more pirate-y I guess. But they could have achieved that with the outfit without changing her face. Didn´t know Fereldan pirates had plastic surgery...

NO...clearly you missed the meaning behind Isabella....BEST character by far. She was able to actually BRING your companions closer together through conversation and her actions. She was the BEST!
And, Morrigan being, "hard to conquer"...doesn't make her better. She didn't really show any flexibility at all...maybe when you pusued the romance she would frown and say..".I can't"....and then she willingly performs the ritual...yadda yadda...everyone hated her a bit...etc.
With Isabella...you were told her story....see her actions develop from beginning to end...see her care for people, and fight others....see her in a rivalry with Aveline, but friends in the end...see her take care of Merril and watch out for her...calling her "Kitten" throughout the game. Watch her joke with Varric...
The list goes on and on...Isabella is THE BEST character so far in the DA Universe
God I love her
Definitely second that, her character was given a pretty decent back story, and she has some of the best banter of all the characters.

Which picture were you looking at? In DAO she looks like an old sea hag. In DA 2 they actually made her look her part. Get your eyes checked.

Seems like it amuses the public, considering how many people think it makes her a "great character".WilliamShatner wrote...
Poor character. 95% of her banter lines were sex related. It was like watching the writer was their sexual frustrations onscreen.
She doesn't "make up" for anything, she just has a small change of heart that seemingly make all the hundred of deaths and years of suffering she caused irrelevant.MarkItZero wrote...
You have to admit though, in Isabela's case, the way she makes up for said idiotic/selfish action is a fantastic story twist.
Sorry, I don't buy that, and I resent that Bioware seems to consider we should automatically write off her repugnant selfishness because she's a member of the party.
You can bet if she wasn't, she wouldn't be portrayed as supposedly sympathetically as she is.

Can only agree; the old DA:O version looked cheap and generic; and the new is easily better; don't like the skimpy clothing once you are in the larger fights on the other hand; so I wish it was optional.

Sad part is that seems to be popular opinion around here.
Its funny, with those two pictures, DA2 Isabella's chest is actually smaller...
Can't we all agree that DAO character models where horrid? I mean the game was bug city, and the models looked dated. As far as the looks go, DA2 did nothing but step in the right direction.

Hardly. I much prefer the characters in DAO. With exception of Merrill and the qunari, everyone looks better in DAO.
And I think actually Merrill looks better there, too, only I can´t remember having her actually seen ingame.
