I just thought of this, but you know how whenever you get a letter Bodhan tells you when you come in? The writers/developers could have made one of his comments "You've got mail" which everybody knows is a popular alert from America Online's email service.
The writers missed a good meme/joke

It sounds like a pretty bad joke to me, and would probably be irritating the 50th time he says it. I know I got sick of his actual phrase for when there were new letters.
Also, not everyone is American or uses America Online/whatever it was
EDIT: Actually, it would be more product placement than a joke. Or atleast how it could be seen, if the "You've got mail" is as well known as you say and associated with America Online
