I was just replaying Freedom's Progress, doing a replay with Arrival coming up, and when I took down the YMIR there was no earth shattering kaboom. I'm quite positive that I blew it's head off, I left Miranda and Jacob for dead and used tactical cloak so I could easily line the shot up, I even saw the head explode, but it just went up in a regular explosion rather than the earth shattering kaboom like an YMIR is supposed to.
