Dragon Age 2 just came out 2 weeks ago, which means most people who own it paid full price for it.  We paid 50 or 60 dollars for a game that has been rendered unplayable due to freeze ups and worse yet, character slow downs.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, just read all the other posts on this forum.  I wouldn't pay full price for a bycicle missing a wheel rendering it unrideable, but unlike a bicycle, the players of this game could not see based on the cover box that this game would become unplayable.  The least we are owed for being devoted fans and paying our hard earned money are updates on how well, if any, progress if going towards fixing these mistakes that should never be present in a video game.  If updates have been posted, I would appreaciate knowing where so that i can know when i can start playing this game again.

I agree. BioWare should not get away with this without giving us constant updates into when their game will actually be playable.

I didn't pay £40 to be a ******* beta tester. The things that have happened to DA2 are the things which BioWare should have found obvious to look for.

I love Bioware, but this is exactly what I was afraid of when all the PC devs decided to make console games. They brought the "**** it, we can patch it later" mentality that most major releases now suffer. Unlike PC however, consoles don't have a mod community to do the Devs' jobs for them, so next time you guys might try to make a finished product.

I agree..They are going to lose a lot of fan base if they keep producing unfinished product like this...

I agree; I cannot even find anything on the forums that states exactly what they're working on patching.

I haven't had any problems with freezing, but I consider the following bugs to render this a "broken" product that I should be able to get a refund for:

- Certain abilities just plain don't work. I know Goad and Armistice don't, any others?
- Isabela's friendship bug. I'm glad I'm playing a Rogue Hawke so I don't have to use her, but if this is not fixed, she will be a literally unusable character (unless you Rival her, which seems very hard to do).
- Sebastien's friendship bug. This one is just as bad, if not worse, because you get Sebastien later in the game and doing any of his quests (regardless of how you do them) gets you major Friend points. This is a character I paid $7 for and am unable to use.
- Bug in Fenris' Act 2 quest which causes it to never resolve because it's possible to enter the mission without him in the party, you cannot leave once you begin to add him back in, and if you return later with him in the party the quest still does not resolve.
- Maker's Sigh bug, which cripples your characters a little if you do it early, and cripples them a LOT if you do it later.

If all of the above are not being worked on for a patch within the next week, I will be demanding a full purchase price refund, and encourage everyone else to do the same.

The sad thing is, I seem to be one of the few people who truly likes this game.

Still no word on whether a patch is coming? Shameful. Maybe now people will stop making fun of Obsidian - at least New Vegas got patched very quickly.

Too bad it still crashes more often than a one legged duck on ice. :P

Also, I hope at the very least Bioware is willing to tell us when the patch has shipped for certification. Then we can be angry at EA and Sony for a week. <_<

Sorry, there isn't even a rough eta to give out yet. While the team is

As soon as we can let you know, we will. Thanks for being patient.

The longer they wait to show us that they appreciate our business at the very least by giving us constant updates, the more fans they are going to lose. I demand a certain amount of loyalty with the people and businesses I deal with, or else I can't trust their products. A lot of players will be reluctant to buy any future games on launch day, knowing there's a good chance that the game will be broken. I can wait a while before buying any game, but i do appreciate good games enough to buy them on launch day, knowing they deserve the full amount I am paying. Had I or any of us waited to buy this game, we could have gotten it at a cheaper price and a patch would have probably been released. What sounds better, a full price game that doesn't work, or a half-price game that works? DUH!!!

That version was to fix PC specific things and has been out for awhile. That said, I addressed this issue here: http://social.biowar...0/index/6733625

How do patches work for console games? I got the Isabella bug and started over. Now I'm worried that even if BW does patch it I won't get it. My PS3 is now internet enabled so if there is a patch it should automatically download once I've signed in, right?

If you're connected to the internet through your PS3, once you load the game the download prompt for the patch would appear.

Hopefully sometime next week there'll be a patch. I'd really like to play more of the game. :(

Luke, no one thinks all you guys need to do is wave a magic wand; that's extremely condescending.

What we do expect (as customers who paid for a working product) is more communication than we're receiving.

Your post basically says we're not getting it for at least another week, but no guidance beyond that. Nor does it say which of the MANY bugs will be addressed.

Which makes it all but meaningless.

People are too fickle for more detail. If Luke gave us a list of everything that was to be fixed and the exact hour it was supposed to be locked and shipped, and if even one of those things was scrapped or pushed back a day these forums would be filled with kiddies screaming about how they were lied to by the evil BW/EA conglomerate.

Personally, i'm happy with his answer. At least for now.

PS: Luke, I live in the Edmonton area. If I bring my robe and wizard hat, would you guys hire me? :wizard: :D

Not sure why Luke from Bioware is complaining that there are many hoops to jump through to get a patch out on console.......maybe he should say that if they had tested the game properly BEFORE release then there wouldn't be so many hoops....

....especially as we went through the same thing with Mass Effect 2 only 8 weeks ago. Geez.

Yeah guys it takes time...the problem is that most of the glitches/bugs won't be fixed in the patch. You ask "why? It's a patch designed to address glitches/bugs...why it won't fix anything?" and my answer would be: "I dunno mate...I only know that with the last few games I own the patches that were supposed to fix glitched/bugs did not fix anything so I guess it will be the same with this one too".

It's the 21st century guys.

...and it is still unplayable so I'd rather wait than have the so called "Bethesda/Obsidian patches of doom".

You've changed your tune. Didn't you spend weeks on the Mass Effect PS3 tech forum telling everyone that they were imagining the freezes?? No longer a Bioware fan then :-)

This is almost exactly what the problem is. Personally, I'd love to come out every day on a podium and tell everyone what we're working on and when our current estimate is for fixing these issues but unfortunately that is just not a feasible approach these days.

What I can do, and have been trying to, somewhat, is to come in and say 'Hey, we know you're all eagerly awaiting news and a patch and we're doing everything we can but we still don't have any news' - I know it seems like we're not communicating that enough but I can assure you if I came here every day and gave the same response it would feel extremely empty and it would be the same if not worse than just not saying anything.

That said, I will give you some very vague information for now that will hopefully sate your collective appetites for now:

There are a VERY large number of fixes in this patch. We've addressed everything we could - most people will be happy their issue has been fixed, unfortunately (as usual) some people will still scream obscenities for ignoring them (though the reason a fix may not be included is always more complicated than that).
The ETA is 'soon' - I can tell you for sure it will not be this week (ending Mar27th) aside from that there is nothing close to concrete enough to give you any more information.

(nb. I was aiming for exaggeration and humour with my wizard comments:pinched:)

As long as that patch contains a cure for the slow-motion Hawke. That's the only bug I've encountered that truly makes the game unplayable. A couple of freezes here and there are annoying, but they never seem to occur in the same location more than once.
