I just hope the patch will fix the hold position and freezing during the ancient rock god fight so I can finish this game and from now on I will never buy a game from them on launch day

^^^^ As I said, in the US, no brick and mortar store will give you a refund for opened software, and this has recently been strengthened by there being a Federal law against doing so.  No idea how that one person got a refund from Amazon, normally you can only exchange for another copy of the same thing (though I guess you could exchange an opened DA2 for a new unopened one, then return it to Wal-Mart because they don't really care if you have a receipt or not for unopened items, especially if you make a fuss.

I feel really bad for the people who don't have internet enabled on their consoles. It should not be a requirement to have internet in order to play a $60-$70 game.

I know Sony will send you a disk with firmware updates if you call them, it was my understanding that most, if not all, software companies are required to give you the option of being sent an update disk provided you still have the receipt proving you purchased a brand new copy?  I haven't heard of anyone doing that in many years though, so I could be wrong, but back when not everyone had the Internet PC game companies were required to offer that option.

Actually, turns out the "Federal law" thing is an outright lie that some stores tell you. This article may help:

http://it.toolbox.co...from-yours-8833

Going to try this with GameStop later tonight; I'll buy a used copy of this game when (if) a patch arrives that fixes the literally game-breaking bugs.

edit: By explaining the situation and being friendly to the store manage, he agreed to give me full store credit!  I guess BioWare already has their money from the sale so they won't really learn a lesson from this, but at least I'm not out $60.

Amen brother!  wait 3 month if it says bioware or EA

this happened in dragan age orgins as well, and we all ****ed on the forums and we all had to wait a few months before t got fixed. NOw DAO has not problems so i will give credit to them for fixing it- But thats it.

Actually Origins still has bugs... mostly on PC, but it still has some issues on PS3 as well (I played through the Ultimate Edition 3 months ago, for reference).

But when I played origins, or any other game for that matter, I NEVER had a problem that prevented me from continuing a game.  Things like freeze ups tend to occur at random places and rarelly twice in the same location.  Thanks to the auto-save, you don't lose much progress if you have to reset the system.  However, this friendship bug from Isabella and Sebastian are doing just that, preventing me from playing or having to lose 50 hours of gameplay.  How anybody can miss this bug is beyond comprehension.  Either they have incompetent staff, they didn't give two s***s about testing the game properlly, or they knew about it and didn't care (figured they would fix it later).  Either way, a few people deserve firing because a mistake such as this WILL lose customers.

Yeah that bug isn't new, it's just the Armor Set Bonus bug that Bioware already knows about and is working on.

Note to self... wait 6 months until after a bioware game is released before buying to ensure that the proper patches/fixes are implemented. In fact wait 6 months before buying a new game from any developer( including Bethesda) because it now seems the norm for companies to release untested, buggy messes that they claim are complete for the masses to test for them. Even if they release the mother of all patches/fixes tomorrow it will still take 2 or 3 weeks to go through sony's approval process. My advice is to not equip full armor sets ( the bonus glitch), never use makers sigh, treat Sebastion and Isabella like crap ( the friendship glitch), turn off auto save and dissconnect from the servers to help with the freezing, pray to what ever deity you worship before popping the game disc in to play. And remember kids have fun!! :)

That's actually a relief.  I thought it was new and it would just delay the patch even further.  So far, I've gotten more good news from you than I have from Bioware.

As a game dev, I know how hard it can be to get every last bug before releasing a product, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the state of your release. That being said, I'm sure you guys are working really hard on a lot of issues, and I appreciate your dedication to the product.

To all the haters out there... go ahead and return your copy if you want, but you won't find many other games on the market that can offer one tenth of the experience of a Bioware RPG.

Why pay full price for a product that isn't enjoyable (or can't be completed)? Returning it sends a message; you can always buy it again later either new (to reward a good patch) or used (to punish a poor/non-existent one).

There's just no reason to reward rushed releases and poor communication IMHO.

I fully agree that this is a GREAT game and that Bioware knows how to make great RPGs.  I played Mass Effect 2 when it came out for the PS3 4 times in a row.  I have never done that with any other game.  It had more freeze ups than most games I've played, but that did not prevent me from continuing the story the way i wanted it to.

Going through two thirds of a game, loving the story, and then not being able to see the end of it is what annoys me.  It's like watching a great, suspenseful movie that unexpectedly gets cut short, and the theater manager tells you to come back in a month for the rest of the film.  I will come back to see the end since I am curious, but I sure as hell not going back to that theater.  I DON'T want to feel that way about Bioware, but considering the mass amount of game breaking defects that should be easilly detected by any game tester, it's hard not to feel that way.

Had they delayed the release date of the game to arrange these errors, like so many other games do, I would have been a little angry, but it would send a message telling customers that they want to perfect this game so that they can enjoy it to its fullest.  Releasing a game filled with game breaking bugs tells me they don't care because they can always fix it later, they want their money now.  I hope that's not the case, because once again I love the games bioware have made.  I have praised them to all my gamer friends and have recommended DAO and ME2, and i did the same for DA2... until last week.  A company that makes good products grow from word of mouth, and I'm proud to help companies who deserve it, be it electronics, clothing or food, but recommending a company that releases damaged products is not something i would do.

Does anyone know if the auto-attack feature would be included when the patch is released? They did say that the feature slipped out just before it gone gold. I'm still hoping it comes.

I -believe- they commited to providing us an update by end of week; there was a hint that it -might- include what's in the patch. But I haven't seen more than that. =|

If you check the general discussion forum - particularly the post about no auto attack on consoles - the rumour is that Bioware will be making an announcement about the patch at 1pm today. (I assume that is in one of the Canadian time zones)

Brrr...a shiver through my back...that "announcement" sounds so like the Bethesda ones...meaning no patches for the next 5-6 months ;)

I must have some kind of beneficent deity patting me on the shoulder and feeding me snacks, 'cause I've played through DA2 three times now and haven't encountered -any- bugs. No glitches, freezes, or slowdowns and all aforementioned ability screwups seem to be absent from my game.

Did...did I win the lottery or something?

then you must not be friendly with Sebastion or Isabella, because they slow you down, literally

Not sure how you could do that, unless you are just breezing through the game and completely ignoring romance and all of the companion, side and secondary quests.

Either that, or you must have gotten the magical bug-free version that the QA testers got. ;)

I actually took the time to complete a majority of the side quests in my second playthrough, including romancing Isabella. I can't stand Sebastian, so no feedback on that particular scenario. Meh, I dunno...
