Haste stacks. A lot. I'll use haste, then Anders will do the same, and the bonuses don't add up. Instead of whatever number you should have (I forget, I did the math last night) it adds up to roughly the equivalent of 3 castings. And when you have that with the Primal Lyrium Rune...yeah...

Edit: Damn typos.

It might stack multiplicatively...

It seems as of now your own magic resistance also effects friendly spells.

I tested this by casting haste while I had the annulment talent in the Templar tree granting 50% magic resist, haste only lasted 8 or so seconds. I used a respec potion and cast haste again and it lasted the full 20 seconds.

Is this true on Casual/Normal/Hard as well, or only on Nightmare?

The description totally under sells Pull of the Abyss IMO. Doesn't emphasize the knock down and tug enough.

That's actually a detriment if you're trying to setup Walking Bomb, because it flings enemies AWAY from the center.

Another ability that does not work correctly at all is Stonewall.  It prevents damage, but you also don't move at all, nor attack (which the upgrade clearly states you do).

Kickback also does not say it increase damage, just the knockback.  It's a useless upgrade, especially when there are much better spells to take advantage of stagger.

After buying haste I felt like it was not lasting nearly long enough. Using a stopwatch I found that my talented haste spell that should last 20 seconds instead lasts about 8.5 when I use it. Oddly enough it seems to last for 12.5 when Anders casts it, so I really have no idea what is going on. I also happened to note that Arcane Shield only gives 15% defense and resistances rather than 20%. Are there any other abilities that do not work as described?

Also, is there a search function on these boards somewhere? I feel like I wouldn't have been the first person to notice stuff like this.

This issue is probably caused by your spell resistance...Yes it resists beneficial spells also.

Goad/Armistice is plain bugged on the consoles; it does not let you choose a "chosen" companion.

I believe the tooltip refers to the knockback effect to attackers dealing damage with the upgrade.

It's amazing to me how many of these bugs made it through testing. Christ they could have held an open Beta and had the beta testing done for free (don't know if they did) and the majority of these bugs would have been found by the community in a matter of days.

Either their testers are just bad at their jobs or EA pressured them into releasing the game before it was ready and ignored the bug reports from the testers. How is it possible to miss the combat bug where after you get hit by a ranged attack of any kind your character freezes in place? I can recreate this bug all the time. I like Bioware, I just wish they'd act a bit more like Blizzard. Yeah Blizz makes you wait years for a game (Diablo 3, Starcraft 2) but when they do release them.. they're solid largely bug free games. I have no problems waiting that long if I get a polished game out of the deal.

Honestly, people on this forum found bugs within the first day of release. Wake up Bioware.

Its amazing how this comment gets made about every single game ever released, like its some kind of news that QA isn't flawless.  Its not a question of whether there are bugs in a computer game. Its how obvious are they.  That's all.

I bet a lot of these bugs were noted.  Either the dev team couldn't consistently reproduce them, couldn't find the solution, or just didn't get time to fix them.  QA costs money and beyond a certain point,, it costs more money than it returns.

If the game crashes or you can't finish or something else catastrophic is broken, it gets priority over "retaliation is kind of borked".

Only Varric's doesn't work (in fact his entire pinning shot never pins down, which is probably why it never disorients either).

Is this true?

What about Mark of Death.. my little symbol onlu spins on the target for 3-4 seconds... description says lasts 10 seconds. Is that just the graphic you think that lasts 3-4 seconds?

The Templar Cleanse ability doesn't just dispel enemy sustained spells, it'll also wipe the Heroic aura off yourself.

Cleanse will take, for example, Fenris' Lyrium Ghost off... that's how messed up it is.  Elemental weapons, Heroic Aura, etc. are also removed.

Anyone else notice whether or not if Anders's talent Swift Justice or any other ability that reduces cooldowns (Energizing Speed etc) work?

it dependes on the type of enemy you are facing. i guess like me, you only use the skill on lieutenants or boss which is by default have larger resistance to spells and skills.

I'm playing on ps3 and I have yet to see Varric disorient something with pinning shot. Only once did I see the disorient float over a dead enemy, never on a living one though :P

Does it work for Hawke/Sebastian then?

I believe the tooltip refers to the knockback effect to attackers dealing damage with the upgrade.

"The Warrior's strikes against attacking foe now inflict damage as well."

I've also never seen any enemy get "knocked back" as though they are bouncing off of a wall.  They simply attack as usual and I take no damage while I just stand there...just like the useless retaliation.  Also, an enemy hitting a wall and the vibration causing them to recoil is not the wall "striking" them back.

Only Varric's doesn't work (in fact his entire pinning shot never pins down, which is probably why it never disorients either).

That's actually not true.  It does pin down, it just doesn't last that long on Nightmare.  This is very easy to see when you shoot an Assassin and they act like they are wiping mud off of their foot.  And has anyone actually tried using two Rogues with the upgraded ability to see if a second Pinning Shot on top of a Pinned enemy will disorient?  Would be a really stupid requirement, but you never know...

shadow veil does not work, it does not obscure u properly and does not grant disorienting criticals, it does work to give u prolonged stealth tho.
and all the archer skills dont work in combination with 100% critical upgrades like ambush.

This isn't necessarily an ability glitch, but I bought a ring in Act 2 that has "immunity to knockback" listed as a bonus, so I put it on Varric. It worked for a while, but now enemies are knocking him on his butt every time they so much as look at him sternly. Does it have something to do with the damage and force scaling, or did I drop 80+ gold pieces on bull****?

Stonewall upgrade works, and it works great.
It works like the Shields or rings that say " Give back 100% strength from mellee attacks"

When you are in teh statue pose with Stonewall Bulkward upgrade, everytime I a enemy swings at you, you see that take damage themselves and you  take 0.
So enemies can kill themself by attacking you and you just standing there.
I think it depends on the enemies strength, but Sahes take 115 damage for every hit they give to me when I have Bulkward on.
It works great if you stack it with the ring or shield that also give you teh 100% melee attack back attribute. So you get two counteract blows, you could act like a ninja with it. You can just play the enemy and let them use their on aggression to kill themselves.

Yes, I have upgraded Pinning Shot on both Varric and Sebastian and I have never once seen it inflict Disoriented when either of them uses it.

The assassin ability that's supposed to make every hit a critical--Pinpoint Strikes--doesn't seem to work properly.

Or at all.

Elemental Aegis' upgrades don't seem to work properly. It says that it's supposed to apply to all teammates, but it ends up being 75% normal effectiveness on the sustainer, and 25% effective on the party members.

Archer's Lance is buggy as well. For some reason, it locks in a horizontal height when you fire it, so any enemies above or below the archer will be missed. This occurs even if you target somebody above or below the archer (e.g. on stairs).
