It's funny, we fought a good amount of pride demons in Kirkwall. You know what angered me though? The fight in the docks during The Last Straw that consisted of a Pride Demon, a Blood Mage, and 600 shades. That had to be the hardest fight in the game. Which made me even angrier considering when you fight with the mages the Templars were a walk in the park.

FUUUUUUUU

^ First thing out of my mouth when my whole party wiped because of that stupid blue on the ground.

God I hated that fight. UGH. And even on the templar side no one f***** helps you. Bastards. <_<

Now I have to run to take out that stupid wh*re mage before she wipes the party with that cheap blood swirl (that my bloodmage can't even USE WTF?!?) then I have to run away before that blue circle shows up and paralyzes me. CHEAP JUST SO CHEAP.

And sorry about the ranting but I hate that fight so much. :crying:

As for FFXII, I loved it too. It was more of a political Final Fantasy. There were barely any "bad" characters as you said, and each were enjoyable on their own merits (fun fact: Loghain's VA did a voice of one of the Senators of Archadia).

He did? I need to replay so I can see which one.

Anyway, as I said it was more politically centered, and then started to turn into a grander scheme of things whilst still remaining political. If that makes any sense.

FFXIII though was horrendous. It had a great story, but the lack of sidequests and exploration until the game is almost over with really killed it for me. It seemed like they were more of an afterthought then anything else (although, I did like the two girls' home village's music theme. That brought me to tears).

It makes sense.

I didn't even touch FF13. It's that bad? Yikes. I was thinking about playing it but all the scathing reviews...I have few enough cash as it is I'm not wasting money on a bad game.

Why the hell does it do crap damage when I use it?  Not to mention I don't recall it paralyzing with anywhere near as much regularity as that spell paralyzes my party.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that's an NPC spell. It's not graverobber because it affects a whole area and not just one person.

Yeah it is:

NPC bloodmage spell.

It was a fairly minor role, but when I heard his voice on a new playthrough of it I was like "Wait a minute.... I know that voice...." It took a little while for me to make the connection as to where I had heard it.

It makes sense.

No it wasn't bad per se. It had an amazing story, great characters, great everything. People just didn't like the linearity of it and that made it not so much a Final Fantasy as just a game with a good story.

It's like how people feel DA2 shouldn't be called DA2. Likewise people felt this wasn't a Final Fantasy like all the others. In FFX you could do all kinds of things to kill time. Hell, I spent days playing blitzball because I loved that sport. In FFXII you had the hunts and side quests, the esper hunting, and could even explore the Necrohol of Nabudis.

If you can put up with the fact that side quests come so late in the game you don't even want to touch them, then you should play it. It had a great story and really well thought out characters. Some were even tear-jerking to me.

Upgraded, it does 10% of your max life.  As npcs have a lot more life than controllable party members, I could see how it does so much damage.

Ah. I see. I hated that place. :crying: So many deaths...in such a short time. After a while I kind gave up. (And god I hated that place with the walls that slammed into you. I can't recall what it was to save my life but that place was hell.)

Hm...I might give it a try then. But...late by like near end game?

I think so. Honestly, I never finished the game but it felt like I was almost done the game and then the side quests popped up.Plus, they were all "avenge my death" type quests. At least as far as I could tell.

And I was mistaken. It seems he voiced an Archadian Judge. Judge Zargabaath according to wikipedia.

Though I could've sworn he was also a Senator. Meh I know he played a role in FFXII at least.

LOL "avene my death"? Sounds lame.

Ah. That name sounds familiar...its been a while since I played FF12.

Hey don't get down you remembered more than I did. :D I'm still not sure if Vayne spoiled Larsa or not. (Prettysure he did).

well.... technically they didn't die, but since you haven't played it I can't tell you much more than that. But they were more or less based around that feeling. So "avenge their deaths" is pretty much the best that I can describe it as

I may go back to playing FFXII in a few days. I started a playthrough before DA2 was released, and I haven't touched my PS2 games for a while now. So I may end up finishing that playthrough.

And wait.... Vayne spoiled Larsa? How so?

Ah. I need to but my game disc is scratched beyond repair. :crying: Gotta buy a new copy.

I always felt he spoiled him by letting him run around with Ashe and not trying to kill him outright. I have a strange definition of spoiling someone though.

Honestly I find Night Terrors to be one of the worst written, and dishnest quests in DA2 (and that's saying a lot).  The quest is supposed to "educate us" as to what mages face everyday in their dreams (as Fenris outright states) with the implication that there is no way a mage.....any mage...can be trusted to resist for any length of time.

The problem is if that were true.  If mages really did have it that bad (as in Night Terrors), then you'd expect virtually EVERY mage to become an abomination in short order and that simply does not happen...not even in Kirkwall.

Bad bioware. Bad.

-Polaris

Who says it is meant to educate us about what mages ace?  Guestimation on your part perhaps or is there a quote anywhere that is the reason.  We know by now, even with the direct words of Dave Gaider on a few issues that anything anti mage is "Bad bioWare bad."

You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.  We know this is meant to edcuated us about what mages supposedly face (and it IS dishonestly because Feynriel is NOT your typical mage) because the game through your NPC companions TELLS you this is the conclusion we are supposed to draw.  The only ones that don't are Merrill (because she can never get this far without falling to the Pride demon) or Anders.  It's a different NPC and there seems to be a Heiarchy, but ALL mage sure you are told,

"If this is what Mages face everyday, then the CHantry is right."

But none of them know anything about it in detail... which makes it particularly silly if one of them is telling a mage Hawke about it, I suppose. Of course, I've always just had Anders with me at that point.

@Ryzaki, you could repair damaged discs with skipDr, Disc Repair System. I've used it to repair some scratched discs.

Aveline betrays Hawke with the Desire Demon (I know Isabela betrays Hawke to the Desire Demon, while Fenris betrays Hawke to the Pride Demon). Only one person betrays Hawke per demon.

Not the demon at endgame. I don't talk to her at all and sides with me. :crying: (Mages side obviously). Oh come on! This is ridculous!

Dr Disc? Hm...thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it.

If you're talking about during The Last Straw, then if Fenris stays, she leaves if she's not at 100% friendship and I'm guessing Rivalry. If Fenris leaves, she stays.

if you mean during Night Terrors, bring her but don't bring Isabella.

But why would you want Aveline to betray you?

@Ryzaki, the product is skipDR, so it shouldn't be hard to find, or you might find something similar under "Disc Repair System" (which is what skipDR has labelled on the box).

You will always have one mage and one warrior, so Aveline will stay with you if you side with the mages and Fenris leaves, and if you have a mage with you then Merrill will leave to defend the mages (assuming these characters aren't at full friendship or rivalry). If you have Fenris at full friendship or rivalry and side with the mages, with Aveline having no full friendship or rivalry, then she should side against you.

But Fenris is staying. She's still not leaving! :crying:

That's odd, Ryzaki. The writers confirmed this is how it works. Is your relationship with Aveline neutral?

I think you have to be in rivalry with Aveline for her to actually leave but not at full rivalry.

Edit: In addition to the stipulation that Fenris stays.  If Fenris goes, Avaline always stays.

Ethereal could be right. Aveline just won't quit you, Ryzaki. =P. If you're curious, you could probably find the scenes on YouTub.

I'm waiting for the PS3 to come back online and for the latest patch to fix the Architect bug before I go for a final run with an apostate Hawke wearing the V for Vendetta (Malcolm Hawke) mask. What Warden world do you import?
