I don't know if I buy the argument that EA is rushing Bioware. Just look at The Old Republic. EA has given Bioware plenty of time to work on that. It's been in development for 4 years.

That's because TOR is being published by LucasArts, not EA.

Well maybe that, but MMORPGs and single player games are fundamentally different. MMOs always take huge amounts of time to develop. I think Blizzard was chipping away at WoW for something like 5-6 years, and the game at release was nowhere near as huge and sprawling as it is now.

Nope. LucasArts cut their losses and EA took over the project.

And LucasArts has never rushed a game that had The, Old, and Republic in its title.

Oh wait.

I didn't know this. That smells really bad. Wow. And I already had misgivings with TOR, but this...this is a whole new level of worrisome indicators surrounding the game.

...the list of worrisome indicators is pretty extreme...

But I've always said, if you bite off more than you can chew, chew the begeezus out of it anyway.

Well we all know by now they don't listen to feedback they don't like so DA II bombing is the last hope for me to have BioWare wake up.

The ignorance in this thread is astounding. Mass Effect 2 sold massive numbers. DA2 sold more units in its first week than DAO did. How one can assert that DAO was a smashing success while DA2 is bombing when the only numbers we have so far show DA2 selling more units than DAO is beyond me. Maybe DAO will sell more overall because DA2 will be frontloaded. But that's pure speculation at this point.

All I can say is, even though the numbers may not be what EA was hoping for, I'm more than sure by the time the smoke clears, they will still have made a tidy profit.

Mass Effect 2 sold poorly? Says who? Posted Image

No offence, but it seems to me that in this sort of discussions people tend to pull their data out of thin air (even more so than usual), based on their opinion of the game, gut reaction, word of mouth in forums, or whatever.

http://www.vg247.com...eynote-develop/

6,6 million copies? Yeah, a real bomb. I'm sure heads have rolled for that.

So, given how reliable our "impressions" are on these sort of things, we'd better wait for official news about the sales rather than producing them based on vague clues or a personal hunch.

Who cares about the sales and/ or the reviews, I'm not buying such a crap bioware game every again. Next rpg will have to have a very strong case to convince me to buy it and if DA2 is the way forward for BW then it will be pretty obvious, no more BW for me. Although this makes me a bit sad (good rpg's are rare) I don't hold a grudge against people who do like it and want to buy it. I don't like FPSgames but they get keep on getting made and sold as well and I don't buy them. So sales don't matter.

Edit: btw it doesn't really matter how well DA2 sells, it matters more how well DA3 sells. A lot of people dislike this game, but they still bought it first. This however will reflect on DA3 not DA2.

What i think is rather funny is that by all the trash-PR they just made themselfes (EA-Account bans, Interviews that couldnt have been any worse, low user and media reviews on their latest game which i would call "medicore") they probably will have an even more problematic start with TOR. Which is especially a big problem nowadays because of the flood of medicore MMORPGs trying to get market-share from WOW so i guess many people will look at press from other games of publishers from a new MMO-game.

All that besides the really bad games that were released in the star-wars franchise lately.

Troll thread is troll thread, just another excuse to be negative.

Why can't the people who love Origins but hate DA2 just go back to the Origins forums?

Its rather funny when trolls call other people trolls. So if people buy something and they are not satisfied with the quality of the product they are supposed to just shut up?

Lets make a real word example. You go out for dinner. The food tastes terrible and is even mouldy so you go to the cook. The first thing he responds then is "stop whining and leave if you dont like it".

lol that would be funny to see a cook do that. and i think da:2 did do great mainly because of how epic da:o was, that being the entire reason i got it on pre order but now if they make a da:3 maybe buy it pre owned at $30 at i won't be buying any da:2 dlc.

To me anyways the first week indicates people who have bought the game without having a chance to react to the negativity surrounding it currently on metacritic and review articles (preorders and 1st week sales) and new consumers are reacting to the criticism by not buying DAII.

I don't know about Europe, but retailers in the U.S. are dropping the price on it.  Amazon has it marked down $20, in it's second week!  Yeah, demand for DA2 is low.

Woah, I just considered buying the game. 20$ is a fair price.

Except your analogy is flawed. Because nobody would stand for "moldy food."

Using the DAO to DA2 analogy, it would be...

You go to a very good restaurant. Very typical restaurant, it offers everything everyone else does. You love it.

You hear about a new restaurant opening up, owned by the same people who run the one you really love. In the local paper, its reported this restaurant caters to a specific taste, and will likely have a smaller menu. You're still excited. You go to the restaurant. The food ends up not appealing to you, the menu is just not your type. Yet other people enjoy it. Others hate it. Why? Because it's a smaller restaurant, with a smaller more specific menu.

Do you have the right to be angry that this new restaurant caters to a different group of folk? Plenty of folks who loved the first restaurant love the second. Just as there are folks who love the first but hate the second. Are you going to protest the second restaurant just because it might be seafood only compared to the big place which has everything else?

I can play this game too, sir.

If you don't like the game, don't play it, simple as that. It's understandable to be annoyed with the bugs, and the environments (NOBODY likes that part), but just because it's not the game you want it to be, does not mean Bioware owes you anything.

Thoughts? Do you think poor sales might affect the possibilty of DA3?

No, I think that the absoultely ****** poor quality of DA2, and how ignorant the developers are will strongly affect DA3.

If DA2 is a major flop and Bioware get burned by it, thats their own bloody fault!

It's marked down $20 not selling at $20.

Wait another 2 weeks and you might get it for $20.

20$ will be a fair price, should be 30$ max with import cost. Not going to pay more than 30$ for that game.
