How would you like to play as BOTH Hawke and the Warden in DA3?

I'm sorry, I'm new to the forum--not sure where to put this but this forum seemed the most applicable.

I was thinking, how cool would it be to have a multiple act game where you start off as Hawke and progress through the game.  You get to a major point only for the game to go to the next act.  Then you start the Warden's journey wherever he/she is.  You progress through the game as well, meeting some party members from both DA1 and DA2.  Eventually both Hawke and the Warden meet up together.

I think this would be interesting.  I'd like to be able to respond to situations with either of my characters!  This is probably too big a plan, and I am just fantasizing too much.

I know there are people who want to play as one or the other or both, but I'm probably in the minority of rather having a new PC.

I rather dislike multi-main RPGs split in different acts like that, it ruins immersion.
If it were a "choose your side" kind of thing where you play the whole game as one or the other that'd work for me.. but yes either way it's probably too big for what BioWare have to do.

My Hawke wants no part of anything epic ever again.

And my Warden is done saving the world. And would probably slap Hawke for the fiasco that was Kirkwall.

If they can make it work, sure. Do I think they can make it work? I'm not sure anyone can make it work for the occasion.

I'd play Hawke and kill the Warden followed by playing the Warden and killing Hawke.
I love destroying the characters I've invested myself into, like knocking down your own sand castle.

A "mage" and a "templar" version would actually be kind of cool.

@op: Hell no.

Now that Hawke has become this powerful, she's dangerously uninteresting - not as bad as the warden the second you end your respective origin mission, but I'd rather take a new PC, and preferrably a human being like Hawke, as opposed to a hero like the warden.

You could have version exclusive cameos, tradable legendary weapons, and -- most importantly -- different colored game cases.

This is a golden idea.

I would actually rather just stick to playing Hawke. It is odd because I was so upset by having a new PC for DA2, but I love Hawke!

It would be nice to hear The Warden's voice and see what you could do with the different personalities though.

That would be my dream game but I don't think I'm ready to be that crazy yet.

No. The Over-arching story is too grand. Let's not fall into the trap of so many writers and series, where one hero seems to ALWAYS be the main character, even if its a brand new conflict, he happens to be there to save the day! Thedas is a very large world, lets not try to cram Hawke, or Warden into Orlais, or Tevinter, and the Anderfels where they don't belong, just because we need a recognized protagonist.

Hope not. Can't see the warden working anymore without taking a cannon approach. Hawke might be easier to use in a story more difficult to balance gameplay.

Since my Warden is dead, I really hope they aren't planning on making her a huge part of the story.

Just let my Warden and his babe Morrigan save the world and I will be a happy camper. I like Hawke and wouldnt mind him being part of the 3rd game but I must have the Warden and Morrigan or it will be a waste of time to me.

Time for a new hero. We only need to know one thing from DA:O and that is, "where is the wardens demon baby" Wardens don't live very long, so playing as a warden about to die in the deep roads doesn't have that "epic hero" feel to me. Hawke got the war started indirectly. Now it's time for a new hero to come fix it. Maybe we can play as Morrigan's demon baby and shoot magic fireballs out of our arses at the templars and mages!

Blergh! If we end up having to play as Morrigan's devil child I shall write letters. ANGRY letters!

I wouldn't mind a DA2 expansion where Hawke goes off to look for the Warden (as a way to find Morrigan) and the Warden pops up as a cameo in the end. It would have to be OUR Warden, however. For the OP's idea, that's what fanfic.net is for.

If you put them both together, the rivalry scores would be perpetually maxed. Carver and Hawke would have a shiny happy carebear relationship in comparison.

Hawke and the Warden might actually do more harm trying to sabotage each other to get on top.

I wouldn't mind that idea the lines of unspoken dialouge come up for the warden and the wheel for Hawke. But I would prefer that the Wardern (or Warden Commander from Orlais if the original Warden is dead) take the reins once more and have hawke as a party member whos's attitude depens on the choices and stances you took in DA2.

I like that. Since wasn't there already some form of auto dialgoue depending on your choices in DA2?

..I miss my Warden. :'(

I want to believe that it could happen. I really do.

At this point, however, I'm mentally preparing myself for the rage that is to come when they once again abandon all continuity, pretend the previous characters effectively never existed, and foist another new protagonist onto the series.
