NO DAMN EXPLANATION AT ALL FROM THERMAL CLIPS!

It's good to see fellow thinkers.

I agree, they should of thought out their explanations thoroughly before implementing them.

I still like mass effect 2 but I would have more respect for it if the game respected me.  Deep down inside you all know this is right. A game that respect your intelligence to your full capacity is a "Great" game.

there is one actually.

it's a instant heat sink, you eject it to immediately cooldown instead waiting to cooldown your weapon that don't have a thermal clip.

thermal clip = heat sink/fritionless materials

Lol. Seriously, Shepard could've picked up one of their weapons after killing them and would've been able to 'fire forever'. Just like old times, problem solved.

This is the only plothole you found? The only one?! Really?!
I'd stop throwing the word intelligence around if this really is the case...

It's pretty clear from his last post in this thread that his definition of "intelligence" is "agrees with me."

The reason I loved Mass Effect One so much is because you totally catered to our intellect. There were very very few plot holes, I was not able to find any and that is a good thing.  This is one of the reasons I fell in love with your games is because you choose to explain every single nook and cranny.

However in Mass Effect II there is Jacob's loyalty mission. I won't go into specifics but thermal clips drop and it doesn't make any sense. How can thermal clips drop before the tech was invented?

PLEASE, PLEASE do not turn into hollywood.  PLEASE respect our intelligence and make sure there are no major plot holes like this. I don't want to have to think about problems such as these.

Your game is enjoyed by many "intelligent" people and it's best if you don't insult our intelligence. This will ensure our loyalty to all your future games.

Thanks for reading and please don't make this mistake again.

.... But wait, maybe you'll address this plot hole in ME3? :P ..... Maybe in ME3 you'll explain how thermal clips dropped on jacob's loyalty mission. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I dont' want to give spoilers.

Please respect our intelligence, that is what separates your games from other average games.

1.) It wasn't a story-loop-hole, it was a necessary gamer based push where it was ""should we totally screw the player, or let them have ammo"". If they didn't have any ammo in it - you'd have been crying and whining that they screwed you.

2.) You look like a troll - and I've seen many in my time. Just pointing that out there...

3.) Next you'll say ""WELL..HOW DID THEY HAVE MECHS TOO?...."" maybe it had something to do with them not being in Citidel (sp?) Space?....I have no idea.

It was such a minor thing that many probably either didn't notice it or figured someone came in secret to deliver supplies, OR that they did have the technology just not public usage ORRRR....the list could go on.

This is a very RUDE post, please be more "kind" about your acusations next time...

Nice thread history:

  • Bioware, please read, you must respect your gamers intelligence. Please read.
  •   Recall the game or change it's name, this is not Dragon Age 2
  •  When Bioware sleeps at night, they have nightmares.
  •   Make sure no one from the DA2 dept helps with ME3.
  •   Oh boy, what happened?
  •   What are my chances? Finishing ME2 on normal mode without EVER dieing?
  •   Having major trouble with adept on casual mode. (SOLVED) [notice the previous thread...]
  •   The 83 metacritic thread. I'm sorry he was right.
  • EA are the devils with cancer that stealed the souls of Bioware!
  • EA the cancer that has infected Bioware.
  • Is it really that bad?

I don't care about plot holes, and I don't care about thermal clips. It's a video game.

Maybe I'm one of the less intelligent Bioware customers, but I don't understand what the OP means at all.

Thermal clips 'dropped' in Jacob's mission. Well...uhh. Hmmm. But there are thermal clips on the floor in every other mission too. Did those thermal clips jump, instead of being dropped?

I've replayed something like 12 times and I still must be missing something when I play that mission, which is one of my favorites. Thus, I know I'm uber dumb, because everyone else knows what he's talking about.

I have to agree with the OP that I had more trouble suspending my disbelief with ME2 than for ME1. I still did though and had a great time especially on the 1st playthough

ME2 was still fun but a few things kept jarring me back to reality

1) The ammo system was terrible for this.  The ammo drops were so obviously placed to control difficulty and the fact that Shep walked into every battle with his heavy weapon unloaded .....

2) ME2 was too closed and you could pretty well tell when a battle was going to happen just by looking at the layout

3) The ending was just silly in some aspects .... the first playthough it was OK because it was fresh but every playthough just made the ending a little more questionable

4) The power of your squaddies also didn't nearly fit in with their storylinies.  Jack takes out 3 heavy mechs single handed, but her biotic powers in battle don't really live up to that.

That said it wasn't too bad especially on the first playthrough ........ but I would like Bioware to pay more attention to detail and be more creative with layouts.

you say 'intelligence'? wow. you are idiot. thermal clips are required if weapons are not based on laser beam. when you pull trigger, all weapons get heat (very hot). so it needs to be cool down (otherwise your weapons will be exploded in your hand, then you will die), plus, it's not mass effect one game which give you infinite ammo. it doesn't make any sense. have you ever experienced infinite ammo in other games? if you did, tell me what kind of games?

Only quick fix I could think of for Jacob's Mission is to remove all combat sections. Then Bioware wouldn't have broken lore on Thermal Clip b*****t.

Lots of games have infinite ammo for pistols. Left 4 Dead, Crysis 2 and many more.

You DO know that ME1 weapons were not laser based correct? There was ammo for the weapons, just that the capacity was over 4000 giving the illusion of infinite ammo.

I for one like the thermal clips mechanic more than the unlimited ammo/overheating.

The worst thing they ever did was try to explain a gameplay mechanic in story. It causes all sorts of problems.
