The reason I loved Mass Effect One so much is because you totally catered to our intellect. There were very very few plot holes, I was not able to find any and that is a good thing.  This is one of the reasons I fell in love with your games is because you choose to explain every single nook and cranny.

However in Mass Effect II there is Jacob's loyalty mission. I won't go into specifics but thermal clips drop and it doesn't make any sense. How can thermal clips drop before the tech was invented?

PLEASE, PLEASE do not turn into hollywood.  PLEASE respect our intelligence and make sure there are no major plot holes like this. I don't want to have to think about problems such as these.

Your game is enjoyed by many "intelligent" people and it's best if you don't insult our intelligence. This will ensure our loyalty to all your future games.

Thanks for reading and please don't make this mistake again.

.... But wait, maybe you'll address this plot hole in ME3? :P ..... Maybe in ME3 you'll explain how thermal clips dropped on jacob's loyalty mission. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I dont' want to give spoilers.

Please respect our intelligence, that is what separates your games from other average games.

By your logic the whole of ME1's inventory system is insulting our inteligence.Am i expected to beleive that shep can carry around 150 items at all times?  or just pull clothes out of nowhere without a closet?.

hahahaha, but seriously, they should make shep carry something on his back that looks like it holds some spare ammo like the real soldiers you see in pics. Otherwise he will have to start using his finger in an Alan Sugar mode going 'Your fired'

The issue is that Jacob's father was stranded on Aeia 10 years ago and Thermal Clips were introduced 2 years ago...

So somehow someone seems to have travelled to Aeia in the last 2 years, dropped Thermal Clips around the place and then left....

Same with the Mechs btw, they were not in service 10 years ago according to in game lore.

Its a minor issue, but it is a valid one.

Five years is an interesting definition of two years. Thermal clips have been in use longer than two years, they just weren't commonly used until two years ago.

Well spotted! I never noticed this.

Small Arms

Modern infantry weapons are micro-scaled mass accelerators, using mass-reducing fields and magnetic force to propel miniature slugs to lethal speeds. Nearly every gun on the battlefield is laden with features, from targeting auto-assists to projectile shavers that can generate thousands of rounds of ammunition from a small, internal block of metal.

It was long thought that personal weapons had plateaued in performance, but the geth proved all theories wrong. Mathematically reviewing their combat logs, the geth found that in an age of kinetic barriers, most firefights were won by the side who could put the most rounds down-range the fastest. But combatants were forced to deliberately shoot slower to manage waste heat, or pause as their weapons vented.

To eliminate this inefficiency, the geth adopted detachable heat sinks known as thermal clips. While organic arms manufacturers were initially doubtful this would produce a net gain, a well-trained soldier can eject and swap thermal clips in under a second. Faced with superior enemy firepower, organic armies soon followed the geth's lead, and today's battlefields are littered with these thermal clips.

I don't think that's the case, it's more likely that thermal clips were around but weren't widely used, since the demand for thermal clips and weapons that used them was low the price would also be less than the standard weapons used two years ago. People like Zaeed who are just getting started as a merc and don't have that much cash would prefer them, or the crew of a ship working for a company that cuts corners whenever possible, which explains why they'd have clips on the island.

@Rurik_Niall Thats the thing, according to the codex they were invented by the Geth, who had not been outside of the Perseus Veil for over 200 years prior to the events of ME:1 (2 years ago in game)...

As I said, its a minor thing but its still a valid one. lol

Correction, the Geth adopted them, not invented, there's a difference. Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb, everyone else adopted the technology.

REALLY guys its JUST ammo who cares, adding ammo into mass effect 2 made the gameplay much better compared to ME1s boring ass gameplay. Well maybe not the ammo itself but having to reload your weapon added to the action and was pretty cool in the end, much better then just having your gun overheat.

@The Inception And you are perfectly entitled to that opinion. Personally I preferred the old way, but to each their own. Funny thing is that I posted in this thread because I kinda agree with the OP's issues (if not the melodramatic tone) however, because this is the non-spoiler section of the forum I used the Thermal Clips as an example. There are a great many others, some people are bothered by these, some are not, but there is nothing wrong with drawing attention to certain things, who know's one of the dev's might read it and go 'you know what? they have a point.' Unlikely, sure, but who's it hurting?

It's still implied that they adapted the heat sinks themselves to be detachable, though I will concede that point to you. :)
