Just as Selphie said, it's an ambush. You can't know in game prior to it that the ambush is to happen. That's why it's an ambush. They take you by surprise.

Edit: Just after checking the guide, the 'Speak to Fenris' quest should show up in your log book at the beginning of Act 2. Go to his mansion and talk to him. You do that end of quest. There is no 'new' quest that pops up after that for him. As stated before the 'Bitter Pill' quest only takes place during the ambush with him in your party. It's an ambush. If you are missing the 'Speak to Fenris' side quest then that is a bug. But the 'Bitter Pill' quest in and of itself is an ambush quest and you have to have Fenris in the party for it to activate. There is no precursor to the quest itself because it's not meant to have one.

Well you've just successfully restated what I already attempted to explain. No the "speak to Fenris" quest never showed. This is a bug. When I tried to talk to him he had nothing to say but "HAWK".

Ad finitum.

Whoever said that Sigh doesnt remove points is wrong. I used Avernus' potion early in game, went to respec before deep roads, (I bought 3, used one, the others would have been for comps) and I lost the two avernus points, most certainly w/o glitching. Just cause you were fortunate doesnt make us glitchers

Wee Joe Green, you first were complaining about the Bitter Pill quest, not the Talk to Fenris quest. You back pedaled when me and another poster caught you complaining about the Bitter Pill quest. It's only after we called you on that quest that you were complaining about that you then spoke of the Talk to Fenris quest.

I did not successfully restate what you attempted to explain. I stated what was from the game guide plain and simple and then said if you did not get that quest in your log book then it was a bug. Don't try and turn this back on me, you screwed up, own up to it.

Hahaha, I'm sorry I must not have made myself clear.  I was complaining about both the Bitter Pill quest and his talk to quest as one entire thing.  The fact that I received nothing to begin his quests in the second chapter was a bug and because of this I ended up missing out on his quest without realising it should have taken place.

I didn't get anything to begin his talk to quest.  When I tried to approach him, he didn't say anything or offer anything.  As a result, I ignored and forgot about him until it was too late.  I understand you required to tak him with you outside Kirkwall to initiate the attack (on the majority of occasions only however, as there has been a reported bug with people beginning a Bitter Pill without him in the party) but the errors started with not being able to approach him at his house at the outset.  Besides, who's actually had the bug of not being able to talk to him and then still been able to start his bitter pill quest?

My point remains the same.  This thread is for reporting bugs.  There has been a bug with Fenris's quest reported by me and others.  It should be fixed.

Got a new bug with Cone of Cold.
Um, how to explain that... Normally, using Cone of Cold allows you to target any area around you. This bugs prevents you from aiming anywhere but right in front of the caster.

It happened most often when I tried to use it RIGHT at the start of battles.
The only fix is to exit to Dashboard and reload.

Unstoppable Achievement did not unlock. Anytime one of my party went down I quit and reloaded from earlier save until I was able to complete the battle with noone dying. It is pretty f'ed up if the game tracks deaths outside the saves.

Yea that would suck but I heard it doesn't. You can reload it as many times as you need to in order to get it.

When you say the passive problem with the respec potion only occurs when you intentionally ' glitch', what do you mean?

Not necessarily intentionally glitch, but all the glitches seem to revolve around saving mid respec.

I have respeced several characters dozens of times and not run into the issues people are reporting of hitpoints being reduced from passive abilities, points from tomes and elixers being removed, yada yada yada.  If I start saving mid respec and load those saves before I distribute points I start seeing those bugs.

On a side note I got hit with the "man of the cloth" bug from Sebastien, and it effected all my saved games, not just the ones made after he was in my party.  The work arounds for Isabella's bug did not work in this case, so the bugs are different from each other.  Hopefully Bioware is aware of that and actually testing their product this time for the patch.

I experienced a bug dealing with the romance flags on the Xbox version as well as coming across someone with a similar problem on the PC version as well. I romanced Isabela and then had a fling with Anders and Merrill (I ended the romance in the post sex conversation). Later, in Act 3 I do her companion quest and she confesses her love for me and we kiss. Then I give her the second gift (Rivaini Talisman) and she accepts with 100% friendship.

Now I go to do the Murder of the Crows quest and I don't get the dialogue option to get a threesome with Zevran. She just walks off right in front of me and gets nailed by that damned Elf...

I know about the issue where Anders and Merrill should end the romance with Fenris and Isabela, but she confessed her love to me afterwards so shouldn't that mean the romance flags should be active? The person on the PC version had to manually activate the romance flags for Isabela in order to get the threesome dialogue to activate, so I assume there is some issue with the flags not activating properly.

I am having much trouble with achievements randomly unlocking, and/or being jumbled up in my achievements orders. This could be due to the fact that it seems the games clock is not quite working.

when trying to equip the champion armour boots lost stats and couldnt use them any ideas why ??????

Dunno if this is your problem but I had a similar one: if you have an item that improves your stats ("+1 to all stats" or similar) and you remove it, suddenly you may no longer qualify for an item you've previously equipped.

I had this happen once in DAO and it took me a couple of battles before I realized that Oghren was fighting his battles bare-fisted!

Yada yada yada huh? That's real productive.

Maker's Sigh does not work properly. The very first I used one it shortchanged me.  I tallied up and wrote down all my points before hand. It gave me less attribute points and less Talent points than I had before I used it. I decided to reload a prior save and play on without respeccing.

It definitely does NOT work properly. Maybe sometimes for some people but I'm guessing most people just don't bother to add their attributes and talents and take notes before using one.

I have been keeping track of how many I should have. Still don't see the reported bugs without q save and reload mid respec.

Also what's more productive talking about how bugs are reproduced or just saying something doesn't work when fact is most of the time it does?

I think the Maker's Sigh is iffy enough that it should be avoided for now. Use at your own risk.

At this point, I'd be afraid to use one even if BioWare says they fixed them. I'll have to wait for reports from others.

This. Also make sure you tally up your attribute and talent points first AND write them down.

Did you equip all your armor and weapons again? If you have any pieces of armor or weapons that give attribute bonuses then that might be the problem.

It looks like everything in the first post is going to be fixed except the Haste bug.

No information on time stamps or gravitic ring though.

I hope gravitic ring doesn't get patched. I used it on a mature dragon and countless assassins.
