Finally decided to give Dragon Effect 2 a go and was quite pleased that the game tells you "exactly" what choices from DA:O carries over when importing a save. However, I have never played through Awakening since I only recently acquired it and it's only slightly less crashtastic than Origins (freaking ATi card, grr). My question is this: should I attempt rushing through Awakening and restart with a slightly improved save or can I skip?

Been trying to google this for a while now with no luck and the Dragon Age wiki was incredibly spotty on whether or not Awakening had any bearing whatsoever on the sequel's story. I know there's something about that Howe prat, but I don't really care much for him.

Right now the imports are bugged -- hopefully it will be patched soon. Some choices are acknowledged, some are not. DA1 romance cameos in DA2 don't work properly at all (and range from your warden being assumed dead but only by your warden's LI, your LI forgetting your warden was their LI which may mean they cheat or may just mean they refer to your warden as their friend, and well, general sucky feelings and all).

However, other cameos do work, including one from Awakening. There are some different quests as well. There is nothing major from Awakeinng imported, but there are SOME things.

No all Awakening saves are bugged, most remove Origins romance flags in addition to the game not understanding whether or not you spared The Architect or if Vigil's Keep fell to the Darkspawn. Origins only imports are the only way to ensure you get the least amount of import bugs for the stuff that actually matters.

Ugh, that stinks. I hope the problem doesn't lie in DA1. That would mean all the saves are bad. I guess it makes sense to play DA1, but hold off on Awakening until there is a patch if you want to keep the same story through the series.
