A characteristic I hate is making broad sweeping generalizations about things or in particular groups of people. Basically painting groups of people with the same brush and arguing it as fact.

I also hate uninformed opinions. You know...the type of people who argue very strongly as if their opinion was fact but in reality is only backed by partial information at best.

Yeah women are always making broad generalizations. A guy I know swears he once saw one do it. :?

Women?! Men are the ones who "rule the world" with their stereotypes.

Things about us to hate?
Our parasite-like behaviour. We're pretty much a horde of locust, only slower to devour everything around us.

I would say that the single most harmful human characteristic that seems ingraned in human nature is dogmatism.

Meaning that we all too easily adopt a position based on no good evidence or contemplation, but simply because it is the prevailing view of the environment we grow up in - and then go on to defend that view with the unfailing arrogance of someone who just "KNOWS" they are right, even though they cannot give good reasons for anyone else to think that they would be.

Dogmatism is the willingness to submit to charismatic authority without any critical thought. It is the one human failing that's been behind every one of the most serious attrocities of human history; both religious and secular.

If one does not have it, one should work to aquire the skill and ability to acknowledge that they do not KNOW. I know very few things indeed - the rest are beliefs which I hold tentatively, ready to change my mind with new evidence. There are beliefs I hold only tenuously - like the belief that it's going to be a cold day tomorrow. The weather man said so, but I am aware that weathermen are often wrong, so I don't put much stock into my belief that it's going to be a cold day tomorrow, and it would take very little indeed to change my mind.

There are other beliefs that I hold with a little more certainty - like the belief that nuclear energy is, despite it's dangers, currently the most environmentally friendly option of providing sufficient amounts of energy for the needs of modern society. I'm fairly convinced that this is the case, but I would not be that surpriced to be convinced otherwise by new evidence.

Then there are beliefs I hold with as close to certainty as I can - like the belief that no (naturally occuring) mammals will ever be found that have feathers. I MIGHT turn out to be wrong about that, but that would require such a wholesale re-interpretation of a mountain of evidence that shows that to be impossible, that I cannot fathom this ever happening. That doesn't mean that I am not open to counter-evidence to my belief; if someone comes up with a population of feathered rats, I'll change my mind.

The only beliefs that I consider KNOWLEDGE are mathematically demonstrable facts, and logical absolutes.

Sadly, for most of humanity, their beliefs, no matter how flimsily supported by evidence, are "absolute knowledge".

Lack of punctuality. I don't mind it when people are 5 - 10 minutes late, but it just sucks when other people don't value your time.

So you hate everyone?

I cannot stand:

1.) Compassion. The naive make this seem like a virtue, when it's just a liability to be exploited.

2.) Inauthenticity. I cannot stand fake smiles, fake laughter, fake people. I much prefer malicious hostility to feigned friendship and respect.

3.) Idealism. Again, a weakness dressed as a virtue. Impratical, stupid, unethical, ill-informed-idealism is all these things and more.  It is a willful blindness, a voluntary disease.

I'm sure I'd could think of more, but those are the big ones.

Personally, I hate boogers and think they should be wiped from humanity as they are no more than a tasty nuisance as it is not socially acceptable to eat them. It sucks

I hate users. You know people who take advantage of others for their own personal gain with giving little to nothing in return.

Selfishness, honestly i'm running late for dinner at my club and some dirty ruffian has the temerity to fling himself under the wheels of my carriage, I am therefore delayed while some officious little jumped up oik from the constabulary asks my footmen and driver a series of pointless questions while the ruffian wails like some whitechapel harlot rutting in a back alley.

Somebodies going to bloody pay for my steak being medium raw, my favourite table being taken and the last bottle of bollinger '69 being already quaffed and pay bloody dearly.
