I do think DA2--and DAO for that matter--makes it obvious that there will be a sequel in Orlais.  The question is if it will be Dragon Age III or not.  Will they go straight to Orlais or will they go elsewhere first?

I think we have to see Orlais and Tevinter in some order--but there could be stops before and in between.  I suspect though that Dragon Age III, after the mixed reviews (good by most standards; mixed by Bioware's) for Dragon Age II, will have to be a "big guns" project meaning that we'll see a major "arc episode" so to speak in DA3 as opposed to more setup.  So that means Orlais or Tevinter.

The only French accents I find annoying are the phony ones, like what you find in DA. Genuine French accents (like say, french chef Jacques Pepin's accent ) I actually find quite pleasant. The problem I see is that so far all the Orlesian accents so far sound like really bad Maurice Chevalier impressions. (For you young ones who don't know who he is, look him up on IMDB, he was a French actor/singer in the forties who had a really thick accent that became a sort of touchstone for impersonators doing really bad French accents)

Which makes me wonder why they have people impersonating accents when I'm sure there are plenty who can provide the real thing...

Interesting note: if Loghain survives into Awakening, he notes that he is being transferred into the Orlesian grey wardens.

Orlais was so obvious the game's credits should have just ended with the text message: "Dragon Age will return in Dragon Age 3: Orlais!"

agreed :) remember him saying something about going there in your house.

I'll put my money on Nevarra personally if it follows the DAO->DA2 pattern. Beside Cassandra (who I really hope will be a playable character in III), there's been no characters from there in any DAO game (from the best of my knowledge anyway). We know that they are rising in power, and we know that they have nice necropolis (based on the codex), but we know little more than that. Plus, since Bodhan and Sandal are likely to be a mainstay of the serie, it's geographically plausible that they'd stop there on the way to Orlais.

Yay another game that's going to be in a heavily controled templar area... Just like Kirkwall.

The game could have so much more potential if it was based in the Tevinter Imperium. The game could mix things up by having a civilisation that has mages on top and normal people on the bottom.... But oh no lets have another Chantry nation like we've had in the last two games.

I hope Dragon Age 3 is years away and this time they work on it and instead of reused dungeons.

Seriously, all the DLC promised for Orgins cut short to make Dragon Age 2 better. I still ask Bioware this please go back to Orgins and keep releasing DLC as well as supporting Dragon Age 2.

I haven't seen a game yet where the DLC weren't cut short overall. People always seem to expect that DLC give 2x more extra content than in the original game, when that is NEVER the case. A new extra quest here, maybe an area there, and then that's it. Pointless to expect for more.

But I believe it's a pretty safe bet to say that BW will not repeat the mistakes of DA2 in DA3. Just looking at the way DA2 was received and how BW reacted to it by asking for critique and feedback... considering this is a company that's only gone up since 10 years back pretty much, this here is a setback. And while no-one knows the future, and no-one knows the full extent of EA's potentially poison touch, I've little doubt in that BW has the professionalism, experience and ego required to ensure they avoid these same mistakes again.

Good points.  I completely agree and...I hope you are right about DA3.  I did game journalism a few years back and knew some of the guys who worked at Bioware (this was during the development of KOTOR).  They were very professional, dedicated storytellers.  I loved that about them.  I hope that hasn't been lost.

Could still be interesting.  The fall of the Divine?  A time of revolts occuring all across the land and the Chantry electing to go on an exalted march against rebel mages/templars.  In the meantime, the Qunari attempt a full scale invasion.  And everything is erupting into total chaos when a 6th Blight breaks out and the entire continent of Thedas is pushed to the brink of extinction.  And then the 4th DA game is set in Tevinter, where they are left to pick up the pieces.

Wouldn't mind some DLC that expanded all across the Free Marches and involved a Starkhaven led invasion of Kirkwall.

I would like it in Orlais...and the accents don't bother me really. I would also love Antiva.

I wouldn't exactly add too much worth to Bodahn's words... I can remember him saying "No offense, but there is probably more excitement on your path than my boy and I are up for." ... Ahum... we never know by what crazy path Sandal will lead Bodahn into.

Wherever DA2 is set, I hope they learn some lessons on what to -not- do from DA2.

I say, why restrict the game to one location? Why not go nuts and have a world-spanning adventure this time. Have us chase, or run around as, The Warden and The Champion all over Orlais, Ferelden, Tevinter, wherever Qunari come from (wich I firmly believe should be officially dubbed Qunariland or at least Qunairville ^_^ ) and who knows wot else. Really, in a video game, any and every location is literally one click away from any other.

I am also thinking Nevarra for DA3 for the same reasons. But most importantly to me is the fact that the college of the Magi is located in Cumberland, a city in Nevarra. If you ask me the College of the Magi could play a big role in the whole mage conflict since it is basically the central meeting place for the chantry controlled circles. It could easily be the place where the mages officially start a rebellion or a target for Templar invasion or even both.

Since I prefer playing Mage, I'd like to see the Tevinter Imperium, and their view of mages. I think the whole "mages are bad and should be kept in the circle" is tiresome. Sure, it is part of the story and well done, but I think we had quite enough of this in Origins and DA2. The french accent of Orlais is also nothing I'm really interested in.
Overall I gonna play it, no matter where it will take place. I just hope to see more of the part it takes place in, and not just one city with reused terrain.

Orlais would be good....they could actually use more than 1 city that way. Oh....and it lets them pretty much once again scrap everything that happened in the first two games except the points that fit whatever 'innovative' storytelling they try to pull. Unless they are actually going to take the time to use all the crap they import, just do something not attached at all to the previous games. I'd rather have a story that makes sense rather than a chaotic story that was just a tool to get to DA 3: The Search For More Money.

If its Orlais I demand the voice acting to me retconned, but i am not interested in Orlais. I want to see Par Vollen, I am way too interested in the Qun. So Rivain sounds cool since there is still a hold north of that city with Qunari lol.
But really i just want more Qunari lol. Oh and if its in Orlais, change the voice acting or might not even both with DA3. They have horrible accents, they were due-able in DA2 for me since it was only a couple of people lol.

An expansion based around Orlais sounds slightly more believable than an entire game dedicated to it.

But Bioware never gives you reason to eye roll!

I want a DA game set in Tevinter. I am tired of yearning to learn about it. Especially Ancient Tevinter.

I would like to see Tevinter, too. Reminds me of the Telvanni of Morrowind.
