Reading another topic in this forum (someone suggested an Anders DLC) made me think... the bioware devs likely wouldnt put out a dlc to expand only 1 npc... but... what about a DLC that expanded ALL the companions?

Like say... the DLC could add more companion specific quests... more fleshed out flirt and romance scenes... maybe add in those little "get to know you touches" we had in DA:O where you could have a conversation with a companion about their past, likes, dislikes, etc. I know I loved hearing Leliana's stories about the world, teasing Alistair about his virginity, trying to figure out how to talk to Sten and of course almost everything Oghren had to say was comedic gold.

A DLC like that would probably be very popular and thus very profitable. I know I'd love to get to know my companions more intimately (not necessarily sexually) than I am able to to currently. And I'd love for the romances to get some fleshing out a bit so it feels more fluid.

A few companions specific sidequests, maybe some new items (perhaps each companion could get a companion specific item such as a ring amulet or belt that suits them stat wise and perhaps even evolves as they level). If the devs were daring they could even add some plot changing elements... like maybe a way to keep your sibling from leaving/being taken/becoming a warden during the deep roads mission. Failing that some sibling interaction at the very least to help flesh out that relationship more.

I know I'd gladly drop 10-15 bucks for such a DLC and I'd like to think I'm not alone in desiring such a DLC.

I'd pay to have Carver as a full-time party member. The rest of it... yeah, okay, even if I'm not a huge fan of the companions. The only ones I really liked were Aveline and Varric, and I know plenty about them. Still, it's a good idea.

While we're at it, let's give Carver and Bethany their own Grey Warden specs... Hell, why not even allow them to travel with you as a Templar or Circle Mage? It's not like being captain of the city guard keeps Aveline from going on missions... Then we'd finally have a use for their friend/rival bars...

I would pay for deeper character development and more conversations with the companions. The base game didn't feel full.

I don't want to go through the game in the state its in right now, I don't want companion DLC, hated them for ME2 and wouldn't want them here as well...although I might still pay for an expansion just for some closure.

I don't want to play as the companions, but more DLC playing as Hawke and fleshing out companion stories more would be welcome. It would be a chance to show facets of them which aren't solely about their backstory as sometimes that came over more in banters than in the talks with Hawke. I'm not particularly interested in the siblings, though.

I would love to get to know the companions better and I would pay for it...but that doesn't mean I'd be very happy about paying more for what we had in the first game.

I want a DLC with Fenris where we go back and find out more about his past, and the terrible things he had to do as slave of Danarius.  Sort of like the Leliana DLC for DAO.

As much as I would love to see a companion expansion DLC, I don't see it happening. The cost of voice acting...

Then again, unless it's Darkspawn Chronicles with all recycled lines, they'll have to hire at least some voice actors. Might as well be the original crew. I don't know about the rest of you, but after how combat-oriented DA2 was, I wouldn't pay money for a hack-and-slash fest DLC. I'd want something with some story to it.

I just hope that if they are going to do single-character expansions like Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt, they do them for all of the LIs, not just the ones straight males can romance. Call it whining, if you will, but I was feeling pretty excluded when I heard that DA:O DLC would end at Witch Hunt. No Alistair, no Zevran, just the girls. I bought Witch Hunt because I liked Morrigan, but Leliana's song is the only DA:O DLC I didn't buy. Zero interest.

Well see here's the thing... The voice acting expense concern is legitimate... BUT it's quite possible that people who did voice acting... especially the PC/Companions have clauses in their contracts relating to doing additional voice overs for a specific fee for future DLC. Obviously I can't say that's guaranteed but I'd be suprised if such forward thinking wasn't common place in a game such as this where addtional revenue is generated from downloadable content. Also the cost of voice acting is considerably less than full on live acting.

Expansions like Leliana's Song and Witch hunt are fantastic but they don't really do much to improve the original game itself (merely add a new campaign to play which is also a great feature). The suggestion in my original post however is for the main campaign story companions to all get some fleshing out. Such a thing wouldn't realistically be done for only 1 companion because it wouldn't really be that much content to justify even a 7$ pricetag (and I daresay you got alot for that 7$ with Sebastion).

Adding a few extra scenes, quests, and dialogues wouldn't cost as much as you think to produce if done for each npc in one package (consider DLC's like ostagar and stone prisoner. They all added additional VO for multiple characters and didn't cost that much to buy). The DLC i'm suggesting has appeal to a wide variety of people since everyone's "favorites" are included and less enjoyed companions may be given a second look which seems to be the best way to go. Also such a DLC gives new reason to playthrough multiple times (especially if you consider expanded romances) which is something somewhat lacking in DA2 compared to DA:O.

Voice acting isn't as much as you would think.  And with EA's extensive purse, it's not a problem.  The biggest issue is scheduling time to get the actors in the recording studio, which still isn't as prohibitive as, say, making a movie.  For a game of this type, the biggest costs are into the animation, models, rendering, and programming.

The talent pool for voice actors is also more extensive than film actors.  Voice actors just have to have a good radio voice, and voice acting training.  To be a film actor, you have to have the 'look', be the right age, and have the right acting skills.

I'll only buy a Merrill xpac if I'm given the option to kill her.  I wanted to hand her back to the Dalish after the Keeper quest, but I wasn't given the option.  I certainly didn't want to keep her in my group, nor did I want to slaughter the clan.

I'll never understand why some players want to kill the characters they don't like.

I would have been completely happy to outcast her and expel her from my party.  I didn't want to take responsibility for her, but the other option was to kill the clan, and I wasn't going to do that.  Not on her behalf.

That's fine. Like I said, I'll never understand why some players want to kill the characters they don't like.

I like many of many of my companions, and I honestly wouldn't mind one adding another one.

I don't mind Sebastian but when I met the Qunari mage I was hoping he'd join us.

Oh good, I was wondering where to post DLC ideas.

My main one is a simple bethany AND carver expansion and its just basically a prolouge DLC like an origins mission.

I feel it gives you more time to get attached to the two characters

Set in lothering before the darkspawn invasion.. you get a chance to run some basic missions with carver and bethany.

Generally it's meant to be played canon before the main game but you get to level up and then when that ogre kills one of them, its even more crushing.

Seeing as it's set in lothering it would be nice to have a glimpse of their life before going to kirkwall, meet your father "malcom", and maybe even visit the chantry again, you could even see sten in the cage or prehaps be one arresting him.

The final part of the DLC would be the darkspawn invasion and then blend seemlessly into the escape sequence you play out.

2 hours of gameplay would be nice.

Maybe a DLC where Hawke and Merrill find the Eluvian that Morrigan and the Warden(?) go through. See what Merrill plans to do with an uncorrupted and working Eluvian.

This.

After your mother dies, you could have a reunion.

So Merrill, after your Keeper committed suicide by abomination and your clan committed suicide by Hawke, it turns out there's a working Eluvian just sitting around. It's uncorrupted and you don't even need a demon or blood magic to get it to work. What are you going to do now?

Merrill: "Cry."
