So I decided to pick up Mass Effect again and while I was playing I was constantly thinking to myself, "What is the rest of Shepard's squad doing?"  To my understanding, your squadmates you can choose is only the specialists in the Normandy codenamed "shore party".  And to my understanding, that "shore party" is just the main ground force?  And the Normandy is supposedly a stealth ship, so most of the missions that the Normandy undertakes are stealth missions/the main missions, correct?  Well anyway, I'm just trying to say there's more people on the Normandy that are just "on a different shift", or "extract minerals", etc.

But I digress.  I made this topic for a reason: what excues do you use for the squadmates that aren't with you?  Are they keeping watch of the Normandy?  Are they on leave?  Leading another squad?  Gathering intel?  Having a pizza party?

Just to make people think.

You mean if I took Garrus and Tali on a mission, what's everybody else doing? I would assume they are living the same boring life where they stand up (or sit, in Liara's case) and stare at the same thing without ever moving until Shepard stops by.

while I have my favorites, I often vary whom I take down as shore party with me, so here's my list of activities for on duty crew while Shepard is away.

Ash is maintaining weapons with Garrus helping/taking over, Wrex is hanging around workout room messing with the rest of the personnel, Liara is researching, Kaidan is working minor repairs and maintenance with Tali helping out as needed - pretty simple. In case of Kaidan and Ashley, they would also be involved with keeping the rest of the marines in top shape (just because we never take any red shirts down to the surface, doesn't mean they do not exists - Normandy has full crew compliment)

While I'm gone the rest of the crew talk crap about me. That way, when I come back, I won't have to deal with it being thrown in my face. And when someone else leaves - I do them the same curtesy.

Then again, I'd never see this, so I can only assume that somewhere Kaidan Alenko is the savior of the Citadel.
