haven't tried it yet... wanna go nm difficulty with it

any suggestions on party? i haven't sided with the templars yet, so im gonna have to figure out how to do that (dunno if beth will follow me or not)

i was hoping to fill in lots of active abilities (i wanna click something cool a lot), so im guessing assassin's 5% mana per kill and the 1% mana per attack would greatly help my mana regeneration.

anyone know the site to that skill building tool by the way?

IMO Anders is a must on NM for a rogue Hawke because he has Group Revive, plus access to all the offensive CCC spells in Primal, Elemental and Arcane.

I started out with Avelline as my tank but she really dragged me down in the Rock Wraith battle and I later realized that Fenris is a much better tank because he can hop all over the battlefield, almost like a rogue, to keep aggro on him and kill enemies approaching my rogue and mages.

I rounded out my party with Merril, who has much better offensive spells than Bethany and she is a blood mage. Bethany is pointless because she has no Revive spell and no access to the Primal CCC spells.

I think you mean this site?
(Here is a link to my NM Rogue build on the site)

Be careful with the bosses if you are on a 360. I had an extreme difficulty getting the bosses "targeted" so that I could pull off single target attacks like assasinate. That's a huge a problem that I hope Bioware is looking at. If you spend too much time standing next to a boss fiddling with the targeting, you will get alpha'd every time, lol. Gotta be quick, get in there do your thing and gtfo to go drop aggro, then do go it all over again, hehehe.

So when you play on console it's more difficult to pause to micromanage every character action?

I haven't been able to go more than a second or two without pausing during any battle so far during the first 107 hrs of my playthrough (just got to Act 3, Nightmare mode).

Fenris is a great tank for a rogue. There's a lot of synergy there. Anders is a great healer, too, but then you have to listen to them fight all the time...

I stareted a play through with a DW Rouge and I am enjoying it. Here is my party set up:

DW Rouge - I went with the DW tree, except I didn't get Twin Fangs are the sustained mode ability (forgot its name). In the begining of the game, back stab was pretty useful. But, after about 8 to 10 hours, it was no longer very good. It felt like the amount of damage I could do auto-attacking was better than spending stamina to do two criticals. Because of this, I would not suggest getting the upgrades (only if you have to so you can get anothre talent in the DW tree).

I also went with the Sabotage tree, which I think was a good choice. Rush was useful in the very early game,  but I never bothered upgrading it and haven't used it outside of the first six or so hours. You need it though to get other good talents from the tree. Miasmic flask, confusing and fatiguing fog are great. Fatiguing fog is good to set up DISORIENT combos, such as a warrior using Disperse.

The first spec I took was Duelist, which I think is kind of a waste. The huge buff to defense isn't really that worth while. Most attacks that you should be scared of have a 100% hit rate (spells, special abilities, etc.). Its only good for evading basic mob attacks. I'm going to take assasin tree next.

Aveline - Shield tree + Warmonger. I mainly user her to set up STAGGER combos and take advantage of DISORIENT when my rouge inflicts it. The only thing I got from her skill tree were Imovable (never use it) and then the passive that gives her immunity to knockdown and stun.

Merril - Primal tree for chain lightning and petrify. This game I took her down the tree that gives Crushing Prison and such. That tree is okay, but not as good as I thought it would be. I think the Entropy tree woudl be a better bet.

Anders - Healing tree; I took every skill except the repulsion glyph, or whatever its called. I also took him down the Elemental tree, but I don't find myself using those abilities frequently. Its difficult setting up situations where I can effectively use AOE spells and not have Anders pull a lot of aggro. I find it more effectively to maybe ocassionaly just use Winters Grasp. Finally, from his special tree I just took the necessary skills to get 80% cooldown passive. I didn't bother with Pancea and revive and stuff.

Best thing about DW Rogue: You can switch to a longbow when facing opponents with serious knockdown abilities like the high dragon. The assassin tree (mark of death, pin point striking) is great for both sets of weapons.
