Hello Bioware guys,

is there even any *vague* patch ETA?

Maybe till this weekend?
I stopped playing a week ago mid act 2 because of the well known issuses.

- Quest bugs

- Screen stutter unless mouse cursor is not on screen (or right mouse button pressed)

- Slow hawke, negative damage resistance, etc...

I don't want to sound rude but i feel a bit tricked for preordering this game without the ability to play it without mayor issues.

As i said...a *vague* ETA would be enough. We don't want to nail anybody down to a specific date. But some kind of response would be very desirable.

Best wishes!

I think the devs are way too careful with the patch - they should have tested everything prior to release, and now is not the time to be that careful. Better release several hotfixes 1-2 times a week than make us wait for a "big patch that solves everything" for several weeks or more.

It better not turn out like Black Ops, as in we wait all this time, and only get another small patch.

A patch ETA is quite relevant atm - i don't see a problem with posting a beta version of it again - we know that being a beta it won't be supported - but it could solve a lot of people's issues before the actual release of the patch - like the previous one - it was essencial for people with single core systems and they didn't need to wait for a month for a solution.

I never started playing because all of the problems with this rushed game.

Level recycling is a no go for instance in an atmospheric RPG.

we already are waiting more than a week for that patch. It may turn out, that they will release it only in April.

Honestly, i think a the patch is not even created yet - i think they just started considering it's a good idea to make one...

Kind of hard for you to say how noticeable/bad the problems actually are, without playing the game yourself.

I've completed the game twice without any issues, and while noticeable, the area recycling isn't nearly as grating as some people make it seem.

That said, even I'm not going to start a new playthrough before a patch comes out, and depending on the changes, I might wait longer than that (they really need to work around the issues that originate from importing a game from Awakening onwards).

Well to be honest you are actually lucky you have managed to make 2 playthroughs without issues. I will describe how my two playthroughs look. Mage - 25 hours - on normal - In the begining of act 3 i notieced that i had 36 ability points and i realised the Maker's Sigh is bugged - after i found no resolution in the forums i deleted the save and i started over, since i practically "cheated" and my character was overpowered. I started over as a warrior currently on the 25th hour of gameplay on hard - i am on the Vartharel /the big spider boss - i'm not sure it's spelled properly/, and i CANNOT kill him because my character has by default -30 speed - my DPS is not enough to outmatch him - even if i am a bad player i am sure that "extra debuff" i have is NOT helping my game a lot. Stopped playing for the last 3 days and i am camping the forums for SOMEBODY /that means devs/ to say something about a patch.
Sadly nobody did - the only difference for the last 3 days is the "Major Issues" topic - where my issues are not even noted. So the bottom line is i preordered the game because i really enjoyed the DEMO, i wasted 50 hours for my life and i am yet to see how the story unfolds.

Tell me do you think, as a customer i have the right to be bitter i wasted money on this product?

P.S. I actually enjoy EVERY single change to the game compared to Origins. I love how it plays and it's premise as a whole. I do NOT enjoy that at it's current state it's a broken product...

They will never give a patch release date/time. When companies do that, and they don't deliver to the second, people on the forums turn in to screaming babies. Better to say "it will be out when it's out" or stay vague.

That being said, the fact that there were known issues listed in the game release "README" file shows that they have already begun patching process.

So you actually think the majority of the forum are screaming babies?
And how would the fact that there is a Readme that is practically giving the game a label "we had a deadline and we didn't have enough time to QA the game - but that's life" is supposed to make the peeps here feel better?

for a patch to go live, it has to go through EA testing... which ... well whatever. But the console version must also go through Xbox360 and PS3 testing before it gets approved. If it fails MS/Sony testing, then Bioware must fix their patch.

I can't see them releasing for PC and not consoles, so they will happen at the same time. I know PSN does it's updates every Tuesday. What I do not know is if patches are subject to this release schedule or if they can go "live" whenever. I think XBOX does their network updates on Thursday.

... maybe tomorrow? maybe next week...

Well I played through once and I won't play another time till they release a patch, honestly this is disappointing I had quest bugs and some of those well known as well and all the levels look the same so only reason for a second playthrough is playing evil and to be able to solve all quests without the known problems.

Hells I NEVER buy another Bioware game on release or even pre-order like I did with DA2 SE. As a player and longtime Bioware fan I feel insulted by Bioware!

I am really tired of stalking these forums waiting for any official mention of a new patch. If they are planning for a simultaneous release on all platforms, this really is going to take a while. Sad, this. Wanted to play the game properly at least this week.

While I can understand that it takes some time to put another patch together, I find the lack of communication disturbing. If they just create a thread here and tell us what they're working on for the upcoming patch and give us an ETA, we'll know when to check back. This is just frustrating.

I don't even need an ETA, personally. I'd be happy just seeing a list of bugs they're working on correcting, with the ones they're done with marked with Strike Through tags.

Either way, it's better than what we're getting right now--nothing.

The revive bug is a disgrace when used in combat as it is essential in harder difficulties and it cannot be used correctly. Your teammates start regening health and carry on like the battle is over.
I am waiting for a patch for this before I play my 2nd character.

They aren't going to give us anything.

If things get held up, for example they find more bugs, or find problems with their fixes (which happens all the time with software, I'm a programmer myself - half the difficulty of fixing bugs is trying to figure out how to do it without causing new ones) people are just going to be yelling at them about "Why isn't the patch out yet!?"

The fact is it all comes down to how testing goes, and trust me - you want them to take as much time as they think they need to get everything tested properly. If they just rush out the patch as fast as they can it'll just inevitably cause more problems.

Yeaaaah, I'm kinda dreading finishing Act 2 on my second playthrough. In fact, I probably should just go back to Origins and finish up other playthroughs on that until they get a patch out, lol

While you make valid points, the least they can do is tell us specifically what they're working on right now. That way we at least get a sense of where we'll stand after it is released.

Other than that, I'd say some of the bugs shouldn't have been in the released version to begin with. There are bugs in this game that aren't specific to a particular system config. You say we want them to take as much time as they think they need to get everything tested properly; I'd say I wanted that before they ever released the game. Some of the glaring issues should've been addressed before going gold.

Sorry, there isn't even a rough eta to give out yet. While the team is working hard on issues for all platforms, we do not want to risk misinforming fans.

As soon as we can let you know, we will. Thanks for being patient.

In a perfect world, sure.
But you can only get so much testing done in so much time, and EA really seemed to want to get the game out the door.

I'll honestly agree that the game seems rushed in a lot of ways, and trying to be so aggressive with its release date probably hurt it. I can also agree that bugs with how the game saves/loads games seem particularly egregious. But at this point its already been done, and the best we can hope for is that they've learned their lesson, and that'll we'll have a patch soon.

Communication would be nice, but that can always come back to bite them in the ass. Sadly the best policy tends to be "Keep your mouth shut until we can say something with 100% certainty"
