My Sheps would be saving earth because Ashley/Miranda/Kaidan/Jacob would be chewing them out for choosing them over the homeworld.

Mass Effect 2: Shepard gets ready to commit genocide and save the galaxy by getting laid.

I don't know how Shepard will save the galaxy in Mass Effect 3, but I do know Step 1 is getting laid.

Save the galaxy just so you can have a galaxy to spend time with Liara. So even if I would choose Liara over the galaxy have to save it anyhow.. darn Asari making us have to save the galaxy and all!

Saving the galaxy would be the right thing to do, I suppose. But Shepard has to have her own personal motivators as well. For mine, it's Liara. And doing what she perceives to be just. So the two are linked. >.>

For me it's not either or. Romance, among other things, can humanize the characters thus giving the story far more impact. I think the romance is awesome.

Some would argue the opposite, Paragon couldn't stand to lose his LI and they will find another way to win. Renagade will do ANYTHING to win so he/she sends LI off to die for the glory of Earth.

people have no idea what a Renegade Shepard is. They just think he's
the OH MY GAWD EVIL GUI. It's actually Paragon Shepard who sometimes
does stupid crap like this. Letting a dangerous Terrorist who almost got
an entire planet killed go to save like 3 people? That's the Paragon
way, folks!

Although, MY renegade would save the galaxy.

My paragon would find a way to save both.

To me, if you do not have a Love Interest, then the answer is obvious.

HOWEVER, if you do have one, then I see it this way. If your LI dies, then does Shepard personally have anything left to go for? If he/she saves Earth, what does that leave for them in the end? If you have a choice of saving one or the other, I imagine your LI will tell you to save Earth instead and if you don't do that, they will be cross.

Earth. But romance puts it in perspective though. I wouldn't want more people to suffer losing the person they love. Save the greater number possible.

I'd choose Earth over the LI any day of the week. The entire purpose behind everything my Shepard has done has been for the sake of humanity, and he wouldn't abandon that for anyone (not even his own life).

But if it's any other planet on the chopping block? Let 'em die for all I care.
