Hopes for companions in DA3 comparing 1 and 2

I hope we can play our original champion or have the option in DA3...no clue what they have in store but I'm nervous after playing DA2...I miss Alistair.
Perhaps above all else, I hope DA3 allows us in depth, on-demand relationships like we had in DAO...by on-demand I mean stopping in the middle of nowhere and being able to have conversation (or action) choices that further the relationship and plot...not having to visit their homes. I thought we'd see MORE of that, like maybe quickies behind the bushes or more varied kisses and pretty words, or more options with NPC's...but it actually went backwards. A lot of things went backwards.
I'd love it if they allowed us some strong content to romance some more obviously sexy NPC's who aren't companions (Cullen, clearly upgraded)...

I'll agree that being able to initiate dialogue with companions outside of quests would have been good, but going to their homes kind of makes sense since you're all operating out of one city, instead of travelling around an entire kingdom. But going by the hints about DA3 in the game, it seems pretty fair to say travel is going to be a bigger part of the game again next time.

And I love talking to the companions, but I do miss the seemingly endless conversation options DAO offered. Again, more work, I know, but...please?
I also hope to see Loghain again - and maybe make him a romance option? Maybe? No? No. Fine.

Even Zevran in DAO was more masculine than the males on my team in DA2 save for Varric.
I'm sorry, but the fact that you're complaining about the lack of masculinity and then go on to say how you miss Alistair made me laugh.SLC wrote...

While I actually quite enjoyed the Fenris romance, I agree that I was a bit bummed at first about the lack of a Love Interest who isn't deeply troubled by something. When I heard that Anders was put into the game, I rejoiced at thinking there would finally be a fun-loving, carefree LI with a wonderful self-confidence, but well... We all know how that played out.
I'm not saying I'm only interested in romance options who have no issues whatsoever, just that it would be refreshing to have someone whose past experiences don't haunt him continuously. I suppose Zevran filled that part in Origins, but I found it a bit awkward to have my Human Mage fall in love with someone a head shorter than her.
On the humor-part, I suggest paying a bit more attention to what your companions are saying next time. Even Fenris is shown to have a wonderful sense of humor, so I really disagree with you on that part.
As for the visiting companions at their homes, I actually immensely enjoyed it. While I agree that it would have been nice to have a bit more options available for romance actions than what we have now, I'm not complaining about what we have now. The romance scenes in DAII were a lot more satisfying than the ones in Origins.

I just hope the relationships we built up suddenly won't continue in DA3. I would like to see more of them - and I realize that's a lot more work on Bioware's part but...treat the ladies and gents to some more lovin' please.

But this will be hard -- to continue building previous relationships -- if Bioware makes DA3 another "standalone" with a new PC and new party members. They also did this with ME2 (unless you like Tali and don't count the Shadow Broker DLC).

I really miss the good ol' days when you can have all kind of evil manipulators, ruthless mercenaries and just psychopats in your party. I don't really remember game where I could have party like that since Baldur's Gate 1. Even in BG2, your party would't be full if you play only evil characters. But in the first part - you have your ruthless dwarf, a sexist b****, a clearly madman cleric, grumpy thief, suave scoundrel, manipulative mage and just a great I Ate His Liver psycho.
I really want my 7 feet tall bald warrior filled with bloodlust, Viconia/Morrigan and a decent scoundrel. In DA2, sometimes I feel that characters were just written by girls and for girls. I think I hated every male in this game exept for Varric.
I also wish there be companions who don't fall in teendream-team, like Keldorn, Jolee, Wynne and Zaeed.

Wow. Memories. Love Edwin O, my all time fave companion. DA seems a bit different to BG though, a bit more realistic if I can put it that way. I agree it would be fun to have an evil companion or two. I saw Morrigan filling that roll nicely, although I haven't a clue what or who she is really. I suppose Anders is evil, or just incredibly stupid. He was too emo for my liking.

As for conversation, I really do hope that they bring back the ability to talk to the NPC wherever they happen to be. And there is no reason to have it all one way or all another. Sure, there are things that a companion will want to talk about only in the comfort of home, but there's nothing to prevent them from making light conversation (and flirting!) on the road.
Example of a "home base" question: "What was it like, growing up among the Qunari/in the Circle/in Val Royeaux/among the Chasind?"
Example of an "on the road" lead-line: "You're cute when you scowl."

I hope our romantic interests will still be with us in the next game as companions, and not cameos.
Exactly.

Oh, I'm not talking about building relationships. I'd just like an acknowledgement (or several) that the relationship is still there. I don't want everything we built up turning into a tiny cameo.

That said, I think Bioware is right on track with the romances. A lot of things about them were better here than in Origins. Somethings were not better. All in all, I think they'll learn enough from the feedback from this game, to make even better romances in DA3.
I've been quite happy with the different LI's in both Origins and DA2. Of all of them (haven't tried all in DA2 yet, just Fenris and I'm halfway through the Isabela romance now) Fenris is easily the best - in my opinion. I didn't enjoy anything in DA:O in quite the same way, because ... well. As I said, it's a matter of taste. I did enjoy them in DA:O from a gameplay standpoint, though; I tried them because they were well-written and added a lot to the characters as such, and had some really interesting parts. But they didn't engage me as much as the one with Fenris did.
So. Will I get a romance in DA3 that I'll just love and love and love? Maybe. Even if I don't, I'm certain I will enjoy some of them, since they seem to get better and better with each game. And I'm sure a lot of people will love and love and love one or a few of them, which is the main point, I guess. Can't please everybody, but I have no doubt they'll be well-written
