 We know that Carver/Bethany are 18 when the game starts, and that Hawke is probably like between 2 and 5 years older.

What about the others? I get the idea that, at the beginning of the game

Isabella is probably in her late 20s
Fenris and Merrill early 20s, with Merill probably being the youngest of the 2
Aveline in her mid 30s
Anders and Seb are probably in their mid 20s
Varric I dunno, could be anything from mid 20s to late 30s? It's kinda hard to tell with dwarves

A lot of good speculation here.  I refine my earlier estimates at the start of DA2 to be:

Hawke: 22-24
Carver and Bethany: 18
Sebastian: 28 at least
Varric: mid 30's to 40's.  Can't tell, really, but he looks and acts older IMO than 20s.
Fenris: 25-30
Merril: 18-20.  She just seems really immature
Isabella: 30-35.  She's been around and is older than she acts (aging party girl), IMO.
Anders: 30-35
Aveline: 30-35

I really doubt Aveline could be that young. I mean she not only acts very mature, but she also has been married for years, and doesn't exactly look very youthful either.

I got the destinct impression that Hawke was 20-21(roughly about the same age as the warden) when you start the game.

10 years later and into their 30's is where the game ends.

Really, that's where they all are, with Merrill being the same age as Carver and Bethany. 18 when we meet her. They're all early-to-middle twenties when you meet them. Even Avaline. She seems older because she's married at the start, but that doesn't matter - you can get married fairly young, and Avaline is a trained warrior. She WOULD seem more mature ;p If anything I'd wager to say Avaline is only a year or two older then Hawke at best.

There's no way Fenris and Anders are that old. In fact I'd care to bet that Anders is probably only 25 at his introduction. He comes off quite a bit like my brother did at that age cocky and Charming, with just a hint of broken that needs to be cuddled by passing wominz.

Fenris as well. He might be older, but not by so very much. Probably closer to 27-28.

Doesn't the grand cleric say that Sebastian has been at the Chantry for ten years in Act I if you ask about him? Before that he was drinking and whoring around Starkhaven for at least a year or two, so I'm guessing he has to be twenty-eight or so when the game starts.

Anders probably looks older because of the taint. In Awakening he seemed pretty young to me, early 20's. And awakening is 1 year or some months prior DA2? So it might be shocking but perhaps he is 23-24, perhaps 25, and looks like he's 35.

About Isabela, I think she might be in her 30's. She's done a lot of stuff.

Hawke, mid 20's. I think Mama Hawke mentions Carver/Bethany being 18y old when they arrive to Kirkwall.

Fenris and Merrill, I have no idea how elf years go.

Aveline, probably late 20's. Varric sounds young, but I can't tell.

And Sebastian is 28 when you meet him.

If he's been in the Chantry for ten years then shouldn't that make him 23? I vaguely remember Sebastian say something about taking his vows as a Chantry brother when he was 13.


As for Hawke, I reckon s/he's about 2-3 years older than the twins. So 21-ish, maybe? It seems that way to me.

Hawke is somewhere between 19-24. Gamlen mentions Leandra eloping with Malcolm 25 yrs prior and that was a year in Kirkwall. So Beth/Carver must have been 17-19 at the start of the game.

Hawke is most likely 22-24 because as mentioned before, Leandra and Malcolm eloped 25 years before the beginning of the game. 
Aveline is a little older. Maybe 27-28?  
Varric is probably in his late 20s-early 30s. We know he's the youngest Tethras son and Bartrand doesn't really look much older than mid 30s.
Sebastian, from what I've heard, is at least 28.
Anders can't be THAT old. He may be in his mid 30s by the end of the game, but at the start? He's either the same age as Sebastian or 2 years older. That puts him in the 28-30 range.
Fenris and Merrill are a little more difficult to place. I always figured that elves aged slower (at least physically).

Hawke has to be 20 - 24
Bethay/Carver are 18
Avaline is late 20s to early 30s. She rose quickly through the ranks, and is still a soldier in her prime. That she was married for years doesn't mean anything other than she was married -- I was married for years at that age as well.  She is fairly naive when it comes to men so I think she was most likely married young.
Anders is about 30 I think from an impression I got of him from Awakening.
Fenris and Merrill are impossible to tell. You know Fenris was on the run for 3 years, but you don't learn about when he became a slave, when he got his markings, or how long we was a slave. He looks older, but that could be from living in constant pain.
Isabela I think is mid to late 20s, just based on Origins.
Sebastion I have no clue. I took him to be about 30, but no real basis for that.
Varric strikes me as 25.

Sebastian did not take vows when he was 13. That's when he began practicing with the bow and when his parents promised him to the chantry. He was probably in his early 20's when he entered the chantry.

IMO, Fenris has to be in his mid to late 20's when we meet him.

Isabella has been on her own for several years at the beginning. I'd say late 20's.

I think Anders was 25 - 28 in Awakenings. So, I'd put him at 28 - 30 at the beginning of the game.

Merrill was also in Origins. I would say early 20's when she appears in DA2.

I'd say Aveline mid 20's as well as Hawke.

I'm guessing at the time of fleeing Lothering, the characters are roughly these ages.

Hawke: 20-21. (my own brother could grow a beard like the preset male Hawke when he was 18)
Carver & Bethany: 18
Varic: 22-24
Isabella: 23 (I say this because she inherits her ship from her husband Zevran killed, and in medieval ages, many women married young, the 14-15 age range.)
Merrill: 18-19 (this is also just after the dalish origin story)
Sebastian: 20-22 (he was given to the chantry at a young age, and has been there for nine years (ten after Hawke joins the smugglers or mercenaries, and he was like Alistair in his behavior before he converted, so I'm guessing he was in his early teens when he was sent there)
Anders: 24-26 (time for him to go through Awakening and give or take a few months to leave)
Fenris: 24-27
Aveline: 20-23 (again, many people married young in medieval ages)

I have a bit of a mental quandry with this, because I imagine Hawke to be younger than her cousin, Amell, who I had always placed as late teens around the time of Lothering. It's inferred that Amell is older than Hawke; Leandra talks about how Revka's child (Amell) was the first to have magic and how angry Leandra's parents were when Leandra fell in love/ran off with Papa Hawke, saying that she would be bringing more magic into the family.

Aside from that, from the pinafore comment, I imagine Hawke is no more than five years older than the twin, and probably less than that. Anders I would think is in his late twenties/early thirties when you meet him, Merril in her early twenties, Aveline early thirties, Sebastian mid twenties, Fenris late twenties, Varric early thirties, Isabela mid thirties.

Hawke is between 20-25 when the game starts, no older because his mother states they ran away from kirkwall 25 years ago and that hawke was born in fereldan.

Carver / Bethany are 18

Merril is early 20's, early adulthood at least. not sure how age works with the dalish.

Isabella is late 20's early 30's i'd say, said she'd been sailing with some people for 10 years so maybe mid 20's if she started pirating at 16 or so?

Anders i'd say is late 20's early 30's.

Fenris mid 20s? early 20s? something like that. again not sure how elves aging works.

Varric is mid-awesome. again age for dwarves could be anything.

I want to mention that one thing I love about DAO and DA2 is that the characters are not all 18-20. I like that you have adults running around -- I relate much better to that! A hero who is an adult just makes more sense to me.

The rest are pure speculation:

Isabella: 30-35 - she's been around...

Aveline: 25-30

I actually thought Fenris would be younger than Anders.

I doubt Danarius would invest the cost of those tattoos in someone who is already in his mid-to-late twenties, rather than a youth that would grow in ability. In spite of his deep voice he has a very young-looking face, although that could simply be because he's an elf. But I'm somewhat confused about elven lifespans, so I guess my estimation could be off because of that.

Whereas Anders seemed mid-20s at least in Awakening, IMO. But DA:A Anders has already been retconned to heck, so that doesn't really matter.

This. She was sold, probably at age 13-15, then her husband killed and she inherited the ship and began her pirate adventures. She did mention that she knew some of her men for 10 years, so if she started at around age 15-16, that would put her at 25-26 when you meet, and 31-32 when you finish... which seems about right for the timeline and the way she behaves.
