Imagine being stuck in one level with precious little exploration and most areas made up of simple hallways for twenty or thirty hours, and the unpleasantness becomes clear. Adding insult to injury, the player will see the exact same areas being recycled over and over and over and over again, further destroying any potential for Dragon Age's world to be a place of adventure and wonder. Thedas now feels boring, it feels cheap, and the developers should be ashamed of how small and sparse the environments are. The tiny number of unique areas is so absurd, it's got to be someone's idea of a joke.

Worse, every fight basically plays out the same, with players constantly mobbed by pop-in enemies. It makes even rudimentary tactical play impossible (which was the first game's problem, if you'll recall) and utterly destroys player buy-in at the same time. For example, when fighting a non-magical group of knights at a seaside, new reinforcement troops literally dropped out of the sky onto my party. I could hardly believe my eyes. From any perspective, this out-of-nowhere ambush method is a pile of steaming garbage. I don't know who approved this absurd system, but the battles are distasteful, tedious chores that wear away at a sane person's patience.

Are 4Channers hacking game sites now and publishing fake reviews? Or was it RPGCodex? Or perhaps the Trolls Liberation Force issuing yet another terrorist attack? Bush?!

2.5 is far too low, just as 96% from PCGamer is too high. They all average out in the end.

Reported for spreading negativity. We don't like that 'round here.

Sigh. Whatever problems I have with DA2, it is still a good game that does not deserve this kind of vitrol. Well, by my estimate.

As long as undesrved praise reviews exist, I don't' mind undeserved negative ones - there has to be balance.

The closer the score drops to 75%, the closer it comes to the truth.

Your trolling mate. This happens to be a very good and thrustworthy review site. Are you working for EA or something? The review is right on the mark and you are not.

Obviously that many negative reviews for an awful and rushed game can't be true. Maybe the gestapo have come back and are reading our minds right now?

Agreed there. (I know we rarely agree :)) I can understand being critical. But I have to say that if I wanted to I could give DAO a 5/10 rating and back it up. A critic's opinion is just that, an opinion. Let me give you a high art example from the world of opera (A world filled with sharks):

Maria Callas. To many "La Divina". To many others her voice is ugly and they don't like her style whatsoever.

The debate over her rages on 44 years after her death and 56 years after her last performance. The fact that DA2 is discussed so hotly (Though it's nowhere near Callas' genius) and not just given the cold shoulder actually works in its favor.

I hope I didn't fail my [Irony] check when reading jack_f's post...

In fact by his words the OP seems just as angry as many of us are, at the disgusting display of gratuitous negativity that is taking over the internet when it comes to DA2.

I really hope OP didn-t -actually- get reported.

That many? Professional critics have been very positive about the game.

An honest review for a change, and people think its a troll? LOL!

The trolls are people who give this game anything over 80%.

I think it's an absolutely fair score. Brad Gallaway didn't just review the game, he reviewed it in comparision with its predecessor and found it lacking.

You think this is good lol? look at what happened to THQ after their Homefront metascore dropped, shareholders pulling out left and right like rats fleeing a sinking ship.

They have to be, they rely on Bioware for exclusives and information, if they slate the game who do you think isn't going to get advertising and exclusive info on Mass Effect 3 and future games?

Oh, this again. How adorable. Right, let's all base everything on hateful assumptions. That's SO productive.

People who got given the game before release such as PC Gamer have to give positive reviews or they wont get exclusive reviews again in the future from that develper.

Independant reviews that are made after the game has been released with no influence from the developer or publisher are far more reliable and accurate.

Sorry my mistake your opinion and rating is correct and in your opinion 2.5 is way too low so it must be the truth.

Do you have a rulebook I can buy so we can make sure our opinions are in line with yours in the future?
