As far as I can tell this does not work at all. I have a magic resistance around 70% and it seems like I take 100% dmg from any magical attack 100% of the time.
For example the fireball from the High Dragon. Every single time I got hit by that it would just drain my health or straight out kill me. Also Blood Mage spells, Arcane Horror Death Clouds, or Serrabas death orbs completely destroy me every single time. Poison from spider which I think does nature damage is another example of consistantly doing damage every single time.
Those are all magical attacks right? It just doesn't seem like it is working at all. Even with Arcane shield it doesn't seem to matter.
Has anyone else noticed a problem with this?
I know in origins if you even had anything close to 50% you could shrug off most magical attacks. It just doesn't seem to be working at all.

I have around 25% magic resistance on my mage and I don't notice the magical attacks being any less devastating, it might be a bug
I doubt a dragon's fireball or spider's poison would be mitigated by magic resistance. They seem 'natural' not magical.

I was thinking that, but fire resistance will stop the damage and shouldn't that be included in magic resistance? My companions had about 95% fire resistance and could almost shrug off the fireball.

Do resistances affect friendly fire this time around? If so, that would be very easy to test.

Magic resistance can resist your own Haste spells, so...
It looks like it's more for magic effects than elemental damage though.

We definitely could use a dev to come in and explain it in greater detail. According to the piggyback guide, magic resist and elemental resist is one in the same, magic resist being better because it reduces damage from any elemental damage. That said, I haven't experienced what the OP is facing. My fire resist is definitely making the high dragon's fire attacks a joke. If anything kills me on that fight its from the dragon's swipes and bites.

Yea Fire Warding runes stop it no problem, but having Magic Resistance should have the same effect.
My compaions all had a fire warding rune which gave them about 95% resistance to fire and had no issues at all. But I had aroun 70% magic resistance at the time and would just take massive dmg every hit.
Still not only that fight but any fight where I have been hit with deadly spells I get the same effect as not having any resistance.

Based on the mouse over explanations I would not expect magic resistence to work against any kind of "attacks" at all. Perhaps it would be better called spell resistence. The elemental resistences always work and have nothing to do with if it is "magic" or not.
