Meh... I didn't actually expect them to reveal anything juicy having seen Laidlaw's chat before DA2 (though in that one we did get to hear the sweet voice of Lady Hawke for the first time).

Still, I had hoped...

I thought this was a chat about Mass Effect 2 and Arrival, not about how writers get their ideas and how their work days are. WTF.

No it was a chat about the writing for the Mass Effect series. That was told to us at the start.

Wrong.

Indeed. Should've been less personal and more professional.

At the end, talking about writing branching plots, he mentioned that one of the issues going into ME3 is how all the ME2 squadmates might be dead. He then gave the example that one approach would be to go ahead and say "bring them all back" anyway. Then went a bit wide-eyed, turned to the camera and hastily said something along the lines of "not that I'm confirming that!"

Unfortunately, that's not what he said. :(
He said that we can't just kill them all, the right balance has to be found. Please not be cameos.

I went in with low expecations. I know the troll questions would get tossed aside, but I was hoping for at least ONE hardball question. Best part was watching the look in their eyes.

Well they did say at the start that they will only answer questions about writing for the game.

"Mac will be talking about the final ME2 DLC Arrival, the comic books from Dark Horse, and more.'

Huh, what a pack of lies.

They talked about Arrival in the beginning of the chat. Nothing new, but they talked about it.

EA found a way to dumb-down even a simple Q and A process with deep, thoughtful questions like "Who's your favourite character?" and "What's a day at the office like?"

Edit: Swearing removed.

I still feel cheated. It could have been better. What makes me mad is the fact that they ignored every good question and only chose ****** ones.

One thing I learned from this chat:
Don't talk to a hot chick live in an online chat. You will look like a fool.

This is what's told us in the Original Post:

Mac Walters, the Lead Writer of Mass Effect 2 & 3 and the Mass Effect comics with Dark Horse comics will be holding a LIve Chat to discuss the final Mass Effect 2 DLC Arrival, the Dark Horse comics, and general Mass Effect 2 information (maybe some Mass Effect 3 info, but no promises

I don't see anything there about how writers get their ideas or what their work day is like.  If we've got severely limited time for the chat - they need to get to the point.

I feel like EA slapped their proverbial c**k in my face.

Exactly how everyone feels. It was more of a personal questions to the writer. I bet they're seeing this thread and going..... "Ooops, we did it again".

My theory:

Some characters say that they will leave and those are:

Zaeed - he done his job and he will try to get Vido and becouse of Reapers try to took over Blue Suns or if you killed Vido just try to take over Blue Suns or if he isn't loyal he would just leave.

Very low possibility to stay but cameo and side quest very possible

Kasumi - she went in hiding if has greybox or just say goodbye and leave if you destroy greybox( she is still loyal if you destroy it)

Very low possibility to stay if she has greybox but cameo or even important quest very possible. Greybox destroyed low possibility to stay and cameo

Samara - went to seek injustice but promises to help in future( Paragon) or just not to kill Shep( Renegade) and/or try to find Morinth if you scared her away in loyalty mission

Very low possibility to stay. Might possible to recruite later and LI if you try romance with her in ME2. Cameo and side quest very possible

Morinth - she just leaves with no goodbye

Extremely low possibility to stay and cameo

Thane - he decides to retire and went back on Hanar homeworld since he will die long before Reapers will come

Low possibility to stay but very possible cameo. For side quest low possibility[

Possible to leave:

Tali - got message that she is elected for admiral and say to Shep it would be better if she leaves so he/she can have guarantee Quarian help against Reapers

Got nothing on if she is unloyal and survive
High possibility to stay if not cameo and important side quest are must go!

Grunt - say to Shep that he should get back on Tuchanka to help clan Urdnot

Got nothing if he is unloyal and survive
High possibility to stay if not cameo and important side quest are must go!

Character that wouldn't make sense to leave if didn't die:

Garrus( infiltrator) - no reason to leave loyal or unloyal
Legion( engineer) - no reason to leave loyal or unloyal
Jacob( sentinel) - no reason to leave loyal or unloyal
Miranda( sentinel) - no reason to leave loyal or unloyal
Jack( adept) - no reason to leave loyal but unloyal questionable
Mordin( engineer and scientist, might not be selectable though) - no reason to leave loyal or unloyal

Ignore the stuff about Tali, Thane and Grunt.
