I'm a bit tired, its 5am here but ill give one a go.

- Why did Mass Effect 2's main story feel generally inferior and fruitless compared to its predecessor's?

What about;

- Has fan response regarding ME2’s main story driven development of ME3?

Excellent!

I get the feeling Chris is going to be vetoing a lot of questions during this chat.

I'll leave the questions to other people who actually have good questions. My only question would be if Ash/Kaidan has a big role in ME 3 due to their lack of appearance in ME 2.

Like, half of those are opinions and the other half are accusations.

What kind of questions should we be asking, then? If you go over the previous pages of this very thread, this is exactly the kind of thing people are interested to here. I agree that they're probably not the best, but if it's what we'd like to here, why not?

Perhaps a better rewording would do.

I would think from the OP that the focus is the Arrival DLC, but they do broaden the parameters a bit so maybe some of these questions could get asked and stay on topic.  I re-worded some of your questions.  My suggestions in bold italics.

- Why did Mass Effect 2's main story feel generally inferior and fruitless compared to its predecessor's?

Some fans feel the ME2 plot is worse than ME1's.  Any thoughts on that subject?

- Why couldn't a Sole Survivor Commander Shepard bring up the Akuze incident to the Illusive Man?

(I think this is phrased okay.)

- Why are there so many unexplained plot points in Mass Effect 2, such as Shepard's resurrection and the Collectors' ultimate motives?

Some fans feel there wasn't enough exposition regarding certain topics, like Shepard's resurrection and the Collector's ultimate motives.  Any thoughts on that?

- Are the characters Ashley Williams and Kaidan Alenko expected to make a significant return at some point in the future, seeing as how they have been treated rather unfairly since the end of the first Mass Effect?

Is the character Ashley William/Kaiden Alenko going to make an appearance in Arrival or ME3?

- What can we expect from Mass Effect 3 storywise?

(I think this is phrased okay.)

WhisperPiano: By now, we are aware that most of the characters from the first game have been given greatly reduced roles, including the three potential love interests. While the new crew is intriguing, many of us are irked by what appears to be a disregard for the personal subplots through which each of our Shepards' stories were individualized. My question is: wil those of us who choose to have our Shepards remain faithful to one of the original romance options be able to come away as satisfied with the roma...

CaseyH-ME2: WhisperPiano - this is an interesting question that we see a lot. Here's our take...

CaseyH-ME2: While Mass Effect fans have grown to love our characters, you can imagine that after spending years crafting them, we have at least as much of an attachment to them. So it's definitely not a case of the team disregarding player's decisions with them or interest in those characters - in fact, it's the opposite...

CaseyH-ME2: We actually want to make sure these characters survive the ME2 story, which ultimately is a suicide mission: some of your crew will almost certainly die. Some of the ME1 characters are back, and recruitable (more than you might think), and the ones that aren't still play an important role in the story and will be around for ME3 - which we can't say for the new characters.

CaseyH-ME2: Another important thing to consider is that much of the fun of ME1 was the discovery of new people and places. If we made ME2 out of the same characters, you'd miss out of the fun of that discovery.

CaseyH-ME2: Finally, if you are worried about the role of the ME1 love interest in the trilogy, consider that the romance itself is told across the trilogy, in 3 acts. Apply the 3-act concept to what's happening in your relationship with them, and you might guess where we're going with it.

CaseyH-ME2: The real challenge is that many people will be unfaithful to their ME1 love interest because the ones in ME2 are really compelling.

Thanks to all of you, here is the reworded and more friendly version of the question list:

- Has fan response regarding Mass Effect 2’s main story driven development of Mass Effect 3?

- One of Commander Shepard's back stories, Sole Survivor, has their squad killed by a Thresher Maw on the planet Akuze. In the first Mass Effect, we learn that Cerberus was behind this attack. Was there a story reason as to why Shepard did not confront the Illusive Man or Miranda Lawson about this incident when Cerberus asked for Shepard's help?

- Some fans feel there wasn't enough exposition regarding certain topics, like Shepard's resurrection and the Collector's ultimate motives. Any thoughts on that?

- Are the characters Ashley Williams and Kaidan Alenko expected to make a significant return at some point in the future?

- What can we expect from Mass Effect 3 storywise?

I assume this is good enough, yes?

You guys feel free to add more questions to the list. I don't imagine they will have the time to answer a whole lot, but we should try this out while we can.

Trying to think about something to say about Arrival but I keep going back to stuff like;

Why did you decide to give Admiral Hackett a face right now in this DLC?
How big/long is it?
And can I haz it right now?

Oh… and is Admiral Hackett going to yell at me?

Not to be harsh or anything. But I think asking questions about Arrival is silly, it is under one week away from being available. Much better to ask questions about Mass effect in general or about ME3 (and to avoid spoiling too much of arrival, knowing Hackett is in it is enough).

Just my two cents.

I've got a question of my own to ask Mac.

Over a week ago, Dark Horse and Bioware announced that the Mass Effect universe will get a third comic, can you share with us any details about what the story might be?

The only think I really care about is if the Virmire Survivor is in Arrival...that way I can start my next playthrough (If they are I need to start towards the end of ME1, if not then I can just start in ME2)
