Where is Drew Karpshyn ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

What the hell is happening EA/Bioware ?!?!
Why you have destroyed this franchise?!?!

I'm guessing this is a joke.  I've read Drew Karpshyn's Mass Effect novels, and the vibe I got from them was that he didn't want to make them, like he really didn't care.

He seemed to enjoy Star Wars more(Darth Bane).  It's kinda sad, but not that much of a loss; I thought Mac Walters did an amazing job with ME 2.

Drew is the one that create the original world/galaxy, the carachters, the lores, the settings, the plot, the mood... EVERYTHING!!!
You think that Mac Walters did an amazing job with ME2?!?!?
Are you serious?!?!
A mess of several disjointed side quest stories with practically NO MAIN PLOT, is an amazing job?
Spend ALL the game recruiting people for WHAT!?!?! Baby terminator is an amazing job?
The super under develloped suicide mission is an amazing job?
Wasting all the opportunities with the protean/collector twist is an amazing job?
The incredibly badly written collector/reaper relation (that only the 50% of people understand) is an amazing job?
The fact that as it is ME2 is useless for the trilogy (nothing peculiar/important happend!!!) and that you can quitely play ME1 & Me3 without the second one is an amazing job?
Have the main characther die at the beginning of the game (ok this is PS3 release fault...) and than cut ALL the relations, the continuity, the opportunity etc... with the firts one is an amazing job?
What is your definition of AMAZING JOB?

You define an amazing job all that have "Mass Effect" written on?
Or is an amazing job because a game journalist said so?
Or because ME2 has win many many many FAKE and useless GOTY?
Or because you work for BiowEA?
Or simply because you are a COD player and you use to skip the dialogue scenes?

Come on boys!

What's the big deal anyway? Oh, Drew made some mistakes and wasn't making everything at his best. Let's brand him a failure because of it.

Massive sarcasm, by the way.

Seriously, it's just a game. Which sole purpose is to entertain. Deal with it.

Story of Mass Effect 1 and 2 is NOT a product of one person. It's the work of a team. A team that none of you gives any respect or credit. And the role of a lead writer is not to come up with everything. It is to cordinate and supervise the team. You people do know that both Drew and Mac wrote for both games right? Along with several other people that deserve better than this.

Mass Effect 1
Writing credits
(in alphabetical order)
Drew Karpyshyn, Lukas Kristjanson, Chris L'Etoile, Mike Laidlaw, Mac Walters, Patrick Weekes

Mass Effect 2
Writing credits
(in alphabetical order)
Chris Hepler, Drew Karpyshyn, Brian Kindregan, Lukas Kristjanson, Chris L'Etoile, Jay Turner, Mac Walters, Patrick Weekes

Oh and btw the main story arc is decided by a team behind closed doors that brainstorm until they reach a decision. After that each of them writes a part which they fit like a puzzle into a picture that they decided to show.

EDIT: This post goes to Franzius, and not to the person who is quoted.

Seriously mate, stop whining.
Do you do everything perfect in your line of work (if you work)? Are you the best student, if you are a student? We must always have in mind that mass effect is a GAME designed by humans and thus it's always  gonna have some flawes.
So, unless you are the perfect being stop whining and give some credit to the people that made one of the best video games ever.

And to be on topic, I'm not gonna be able to watch it live, but I'm looking forward to see what new information we're going to get.

I'll download the cast tomorrow anyway.
I have a choice, watch the cast at the party (which would be nerdy) or drink with others and download cast tomorrow :)

Come on boys!

You had some relatively valid points (though i'll make it known i enjoyed seeing Shepard "die" at the start of ME2. It was an interesting and intelligent way to start the game), then it all went downhill...

As for the parts i've quoted there, give it a break. How exactly you can claim ME2 has won many "fake" GOTY awards is beyond me, it's essentially just a childish argument to claim something is false just because you yourself cannot agree with it. Furthermore, the COD jibe is borderline pathetic, just because someone enjoys shooters means they have no interest in story and just want to shoot things? Yeh I think not.  Just so you know, I used to be a competitive gamer, was part of a sponsored team that competed on a variety of different shooters, yet i've played both ME1 and ME2 multiple times without feeling the need to skip dialogue.

Honestly, the amount of childish moans and whines on this forum is pretty unbelievable.

Edit: As for the actual topic, looking forward to giving this chat a listen this evening.

Or maybe I thought ME2 was amazing because it was extremely fun to play, had a very fun and interesting linking story between Me and ME3 with great characters, extremely awesome gameplay, some neat twists etc. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it isn't amazing

Well this proves that my initial thought of how this chat will go down was correct: It's a sh*tstorm waiting to happen.

PS
Some things went wrong with the writing in ME2 (good indivisual stories, messy/disconnected overarching stroy and weird/lame ending), but that doesn't mean it is all Mac's fault. He is the lead writer, not the only one.

DaBigDragon wrote...

Gears and God of war did too, but it was certainly not for the stellar writing. The amount of awards doesn't really tell you a lot about individual aspects of a game. Just that it worked as a whole and provided an entertaining experience of some kind.
