This reminds me of the issue people have with various other sci-fi series, from games, to movies, to TV shows. I myself have a dislike when someone on a writing team does something that doesn't seem necessary to canon. Well, here's the way I see it: Mass Effect 2 is a story on its own, but its also a jumping off point into the grand finale. Mass Effect 1 set up the baseline, bringing to the table a whole galaxy. But while Drew Karpyshyn was the main writer on ME1, he was not the only one working on it. Or do you honestly believe one person can write an entire video game with the size and scope of Mass Effect?
Mass Effect 2 can also serve as a jumping point for people into the series; in fact, it's difficult for me to play Mass Effect 1 due to the improvements in gameplay in Mass Effect 2. Do I miss certain things from Mass Effect 1? Yes, I do. But I didn't like in Mass Effect 1 that you had to constnatly upgrade your ammo and such. I think Mass Effect 3 would be good if they returned to the 'endless ammo/overheat' issue and only had one kind of ammo upgrade for each kind. So, instead of something like 'Armor Piercing Rounds I-IV' It would simply be either 'Armor Piercing' or 'Tusten' rounds. Same with 'cryo/snowblind rounds'. 'incendiary/inferno rounds', etc.
In regards to weapons, the ones I'm going to miss in Mass Effect 3 is the Mattock and some of the others from the Firepower Pack. (Unless they actually let those transfer over to the third game. That'd be great, in my opinion. Hey, maybe we should ask about that?)
In regards to the interview by Mac, I am definitely watching it live. I live in an MST area, so I don't have to worry too much. Two and a half hours to go where I am.

Story of Mass Effect 1 and 2 is NOT a product of one person. It's the work of a team. A team that none of you gives any respect or credit. And the role of a lead writer is not to come up with everything. It is to cordinate and supervise the team. You people do know that both Drew and Mac wrote for both games right? Along with several other people that deserve better than this.
Mass Effect 1
Writing credits
(in alphabetical order)
Drew Karpyshyn, Lukas Kristjanson, Chris L'Etoile, Mike Laidlaw, Mac Walters, Patrick Weekes
Mass Effect 2
Writing credits
(in alphabetical order)
Chris Hepler, Drew Karpyshyn, Brian Kindregan, Lukas Kristjanson, Chris L'Etoile, Jay Turner, Mac Walters, Patrick Weekes
Oh and btw the main story arc is decided by a team behind closed doors that brainstorm until they reach a decision. After that each of them writes a part which they fit like a puzzle into a picture that they decided to show.
Mike Laidlaw was a writer for ME1? Didn't know that.

Darn. You need Flash Player to watch the live chat, and iPads don't have Flash Player. Any other way I can see the video or find out what's going on?
Wait there's video? I've only seen like 2 lines of text from this so far. Wtf.
