She needs a unique look to qualify as a party member.

I actually thought she looked quite unique, atleast recognisable enough...
Though it doesn't matter that much though, look at leliana her in game model didn't really look all that unique, this goes for several others as well...

Let's just hope she's nothing like Gamlen. They say you never really get to know someone till you live with them.

When you first meet her, I think there's a dialogue option that goes along the lines : you certainly don't take after Gamlen.

Which is true, she doesn't seem like an incompetent fool like Gamlen.  She also fights people and seems strong willed.

Aha, her mother said she looked much (or was much like) Gamlen (charades words)... So maybe that's why she's called Charade, cause it isn't true at all ^_^

I'd like to think that Charade is like what Gamlen used to be, before he lost the love of his life, as well as nursed his dying parents in their last days. I'm glad so many people liked her, I wrote her when I was an intern here at BioWare.

I really liked those bits when I got to see that Gamlen wasn't always a bitter old man. I especially liked that Charade could bring happiness to his life again.

Charade is awesome. And I loved Hawke's "She looks nothing like you. Thank the Maker for small miracles" line.

I do like Gamlen. Despite his faults, he's a good person who does care about his entire family.

Charade Amell, Gamlen's not-so-legitimate daughter, I think should be a future hawke companion in an expansion or future sequel.

Bioware really played up the family angle but then kicked us all in the collective groin by killing off our first sibling. Removing our second sibling and finally, eviscerating our mother.

I agree. I don't even understand why my apostate Hawke remained in Kirkwall when his sister was dead because of the darkspawn, his mother was murdered by an insane Starkhaven Circle escapee, his brother was a Grey Warden, and the Knight-Commander was taking control of the city-state.

Alexein wrote...

To salvage the family angle i think Charade should be a companion and protected with plot armor and character shields. Give hawke some motivation to keep doing what they do even if their original family is no longer their driving force.

I'd like to see Charade again. Charade and Thaddeus Gigantus Crumbum the Third need to be companions.

Alexein wrote...

Clearly Charade wants a family connection, or else she wouldn't have set in motion the whole quest. So how hawke deals with that in the future can be a good story thread, either blow her off and make her a rival, or try to connect with her and make her a friend.

Makes sense. I'd like to see her again in DLC, she was pretty interesting.

Alexein wrote...

If bioware wants to keep the family angle i think Charade is the best way to do it.

And PLEASE don't kill her too!

I think we had enough of Hawke failing everyone around him for seven years and enough senseless family deaths to last us; there's no reason to kill Charade.

Charade was alot of fun, and I greatly enjoyed gaining a family member instead of losing one for a change. I'd love to see more of her.

And I also enjoyed seeing another side ot Gamlen. He was one of the few characters that my opinion actually improved on instead of the reverse. Admittedly my opinion started in a pretty low spot.

I liked how we saw someone in Thedas suffering from a genuine mental illness.

That was one of the more interesting little quests. And I would like to see more of Charade.

Why didn't the undead in the crypt attack him, Tonia Laird? Don't worry, David Gaider said he was going to tell us this today, he must have simply forgotten. You can totally tell us.

I like it, just that I reloaded and killed him as soon as I saw I would have to fight a revenant if I didn't.
I still have flashbacks to the Revenants in Origins as a low level rogue.

Heh people were creeped out by the Magistrate's Orders? It was one of the more interesting ones.. felt like there was supposed to be more to it, though? I mean, consequences for killing Kelder were never made clear to me, although I haven't checked to see if something happens if he's spared.

Charade was adorable and struck me as a potential companion, too.. hopefully we'll get to see more of her in future projects

Those two would be awesome. Charade was one of few non-crazy people in Kirkwall that seemed to have a good head on her shoulders. And Cullen...well, that goes without saying. He should be a LI in the future.
Personally, I'd also like some more Nathaniel Howe, and perhaps the addition of Keran:wub:

Considering Hawke is supposed to eventually part ways with Varric and the others he could use an archer in the party. Makes sense for a DLC option.

Magistrate's orders was an interesting quest and a painful decision. I'm with Gunso91, I wanted to see some consequences for it. My Hawke brought him back alive mostly because--in so far as I could discern a purpose for my Hawke in Act 1--I thought I was trying to help Mom get back the family estate, and thought currying favor with the powers that be might help. But I was expecting to have to deal with fallout later on.

The only consequences I'm aware of is simply a letter from the father of the elf girl you saved. If you spare Kelder she becomes fearful of humans or something along those lines and they leave Kirkwall. If you kill Kelder you can run into the girl in the alienage in Act 3 only if Aveline is in your party and you get a little cut scene about the girl becomeing a guardswoman (although she doesn't appear in uniform). I only accidentally got this scene on my second mage run.

Indeed. That was a good one. A question though, if I may. What was wrong with him? He seemed at first to be mentally ill, likely severely schizophrenic. But after taking the rest of the story of DA2 into consideration, especially the part about the thin veil from the Enigma of Kirkwall, I started to wonder if maybe he wasn't really hearing demons like he thought. Especially if he somehow got into the Undercity, where it's said even non-mages can communicate with demons because the veil is so thin (which Lady Harimann's story certainly seemed to back up). Then again, I spend so much time with these kinds of theories sometimes I forget which ones are just crazy.

If the Circle of Kirkwall kicks you out and says you're not hearing to demons, trust me - you're not hearing demons.
