I'm curious too...but I don't think I could let the guy live, even out of curiousity.
The first time I played that mission and it came to that choice, there were no more investigating dialogue options. I sat there and stared at the screen for a long time. If I kill him, the Magistrate will very likely become my enemy and who knows what he'll end up doing to hinder my progress. But if I let this guy go people
will die. Innocent elven children will die and I'll get a little favor from the Magistrate.
I let Fenris pop his wicked heart and the personal consquences be damned, elven children are saved.
