There's plenty in other words. A lot more do have the "saving the world" theme but I like both, as long as it's well done.
EDIT: Actually, saying "both" feels wrong. I want to say that I like ANY story that is well written and executed.

Persona 3 was about saving the world from Nyx. It's never outright said "We have to save the world!" but your kind of trying to stop Nyx from destroying all of human kind's will to live.
Technically true, but you don't find this out until the last few hours of gameplay. The overall game is far more about exploring the Tower and interacting with your friends.
Same kinda deal with Skies of Arcadia. Technically your end goal is to save the world from Ramirez and the Silver Star people, but you don't realize that until you're three quarters of the way into the game. Before that, you're fighting against an empire and just generally being a freaking air pirate.
God I love that game.
