After Hawk's mom died i thought for sure i would see a funeral scene in which Carver or Bethany would show up and talk to me. We didn't even get a letter.  Anybody else think that they were going to see Behtnay or Carver after the mom's death.

I'm guessing the funeral happens during the time skip.

Yeah, something should have happened after her death.

Yeah, I expected a funeral too.

Well, I think it might have been somewhat comforting to have one, but I don't see Carver/Bethany being allowed to attend if they become Wardens (templar/Circle mage, yeah, you'd think they might get special permission for it).

You don't need to show something if its already heavily implied.

I thought the scene between Gamlen saying he'd make the arrangements and the LI (or Aveline) showing up to express condolences was beautifully done. I didn't feel the need for more closure beyond that (i.e. a funeral).

I really wish I had a chance to talk to my sibling again, at least! I was really annoyed that only Gamlen went off to tell Templar Carver. I kept circling round the Gallows trying to find my stupid brother. :|

There should have been a way to inform your sibling personally. But the Gamlen/LI/Aveline scenes were great in their own right, so i don't complain.

They weren't even aware until you tell them during the qunari invasion, were they?

Totally off-topic, but beautiful dwarf girly you've got in your avatar...and your nug banner makes me smile :D

I thought the Gamlen/LI showing up was plenty, personally.

Would have been more emotional if that happened =(.

[SPOILER]

BTW, I wonder how they would bury her? What happened to the rest of her body since only her head was used for that...thing? Would they just lump her body parts with her 'new' body?

Gamlen informs your sibling no matter where they ended up. If they're a warden and you bring it up. They'll say they already knew. A funeral is just not needed due to the things people would wonder. What would you do with a body formed from so many other women. Some parts being so old and preserved that you couldn't even find the rest of them. Just seems wrong.

It's simpler the way they went about it. I'm fine with having Gamlen asking about it and how you have the option of giving him more than he truly should need to know and then how each companion that comes to you would approach the conversation differently. Even the conversation with Aveline is pretty solid from a writing standpoint in my opinion. It plays somewhat differently based on how you've approached her before.

Sure you do, even a cheesy casket being lowered into the ground with sweeping angles would have worked.

Also where/when is it heavily implied they held a funeral? I don't think your companions comforting you implies that there was an funeral, just that they were aware of the death.

I would have appreciated an actual funeral as it could have allowed for a lot of character development. Also I was dissapointed that apart from Aveline your LI and Gamlen (these were beautifully done) no one else says something in support...

I think most of Thedas does cremation (to honor Andraste). Since I can't exactly picture Hawke&co lighting up a pyre just anywhere in Kirkwall, there's probably a cremation site - or perhaps they do something like Redcliffe. *shrug* Either way, a funeral scene is unnecessary when your Hawke has their remaining family/friends to deal with the loss.

Granted, I imagine a mage Hawke might just burn the body right there (and a non-mage Hawke could throw down some kind of alchemical fire-bomb, set the whole warehouse aflame - that's what my Hawke would've done).

I do agree that there should've been an actual conversation with your sibling, though, instead of just "I already knew, I'm sure you did your best," which rang hollow to me. ;A;

Not true. If you click on many of them after they will comment on it. For example Sebastian states how he put a rememberance of her up on the wall in the chantry.

With a funeral for your mum though, it's more like a funeral for all the women that that man killed. Cause he put them all together like Frakenstein.

I think there is no need for it though, cause your character is already shown in deep despair and there's no need to put more of that into the game when we could have more gameplay.

It would have been nice to see (A chantry funeral involves burning the body in holy fire or some such) and give me a way to act out how I felt rather than just yell at Aveline.

But prehaps if there was it would make me remember real funerals I've been to. That would be unpleasant.
