I am such a miser, I really think the stats are awsome for an act I weapon. But, I also know there are other good staves that get picked up later.
Just trying to figure out if it is worth getting at level 5.
Thanks.
Is the Magister's Scythe worth getting?

my opinion, no. if u have the staff of parlathan or apostates courage they should be good for the beggining. i would save and buy a nice staff for act 2

@monopoly1888; I am leaning this direction, it just is a really nice staff.
@Ferelden92; Patharlan is nice, but it's fire based (lots of critters are immune) and it's a slight bit lower on dps. But, yes, free is good
I am playing on nightmare (I am a masochist who loves friendly fire), so immunities are an issue.

I picked it up pretty early on in act 1 for my solo mage, I'm still using it as my main staff in the Deep Roads. It's ridiculously good.

If you're saving money for a cool (pun intended) staff, save it for Cold Blooded from Act 2's Wounded Coast shop. It comes with 37 + 30% Cold damage, improves Blood Magic, and also comes with a Mana bonus.
Edit: The Magister's Scythe is worth getting if you plan on playing dual DPS Mage (Hawke + Merrill) for most of Act I. It's Physical damage which ignores Armor, which means it's basically Spiritual damage that ignores Spirit immunity. Its firepower has no rival until Valdasine is recovered in the Deep Roads.

Sevenplusone, it was your solo mage video that got me interested in it in the first place. But, I think I will try it out on another run. I am more than halfway through Act I with my current mage.
@monopoly1888, I am using Parthalon, as I don't have the signature edition for Apostates Courage. I am keeping a couple of others as I run through for fire immune enemies.
Thanks everyone for your feedback!
