I don't like the Emissary darkspawn redesign because they look a little to much like Arcane Horrors now.

What we see in DAO:

I mean that makes sense. Its a little Genlock who uses magic. That's cool, they are just like us.

In DA2:

Concept art, but ends up how the look- Posted Image

Arcane Horror- Posted Image

So now the Emissary look like baby Arcane Horrors. Um...o...k...now I'm confused when I fight. Is that an Arcane Horror...oh...no...no wait that's an Emissary.

I think they have beeen re-designed to resemble the Architect, which actually makes sense.

I like the new Emissaries, the idea of Darkspwan Mages always felt weird to me. How could those ugly things posses magical ability?

Anybody notice Genlocks and Shrieks are completely missing from the game? Even in Lothering there was only Hurlocks and Ogres.

I don't remember the Architect having a harness, choking on a bit, or having his chest puffed out.

I mean the tall and slender body type, of course they're not going to dress like him.

idk probably because darkspawn don't play as large of a role in this game, there aren't as many types. Which actually doens't make sense I don't know why they got cut.

Why are you comparing a Genlock Emissary with a Hurlock Emissary? o.O

All in all i prefered the designs of the darkspawn in Dragon Age Origins myself, these just look weird and not in a good way.

Hurlock Emissary Concept art

Only thing different to Origins is the cloak on this concept.

wow i am stupid. i didn't notice that... but with al the reuse of enviroments and enemies... you kinda get numb in who you are fighting... aslong as they are dead

But Genlocks are like the most common form of darkspawn(likely because dwarves live in the Deep Roads.)

And the horde during the Blight had a lot of Gens, so Lothering's destruction at least should have had some.

I hate the new Hurlocks. They look like Skeletor. They move like those things in Power Rangers.
Also why in the hell do the archers wear Spanish Conquistador helmets?

That isn't a hurlock emisarry. I remember a dev quote stating that the new emissary is a shriek emissary. There are no genlocks or shrieks except shriek emissaries but if the facebook game is any indication, I'm glad I didn't see gorilla genlocks

I tried to like the Darkspawn in this game. I'm not too bothered about the grunts, but I still think they looked more impressive in Origins. Ogre's aren't really a big deal in DA2, but I prefer the purple skinned ones of Origins. I can't help but think that the redesign was another excuse to recycle resources more in DA2, there felt like more variety to the Darkspawn in Origins alone (not counting DLC).

I'm sure this is a way to fix it in DA3 without doing another reboot/sequel situation. They could just say that the DA2 types were just different to Origins and that those style of Darkspawn still exist.

Plus I was always dissapointed we never got to wear any of the various Darkspawn armour in Origins.
