I have a mod that has an elf face pre-set, and it allows for some customization. However, the head looks way too small for the body. Anyone know if it is possible to change your body model as well as your head? I would imagine that this would cause problems with armor, but it would still be pretty cool!

Yes. I have it and don't even know how I got it. But the last two presets I got now are elves. So it's attached to one of the other mods I got. I don't know about dwarf though but I wouldn't doubt it.

If you are happy to play as a Female Elf, there's a rather nice mod here.
You can even make your whole family Elves if you want to.

Warrior/Rogue armors work fine, currently the Mage armors have graphical glitches though.

Sweet thank you. Know of any mods like that one, but for male elves?

Looks like it's going to be while before that's a fully working mod. It seems to have issues with causing random NPCs to show up as elves, or floating heads, for example.

This. I downloaded the female elf mod, and it made NPC's eyes pop out of their heads, body parts were floating and dismembered, and and a bunch of other stuff like that. I'll be happy when someone creates a mod without those problems!

You can try editing your save file.

  • Hawke's default APPEARANCE_TYPE and ORIGINAL_TYPE is 15 for males and 16 for females.
  • Hawke's default race type is 3.
  • APPEARANCE_TYPE and ORIGINAL_TYPE is 12020 and 12021 for male and female elves respectively.
  • Elves are race type 2.
  • One problem with turning Hawke into an elf is that your armor choices are extremely limited, as most armor models do not have elf versions.

Expansion idea... Bioware releases full ability to play through DA2 as an elf or dwarf. Could use a lot of the same content, just needs new content (animations, dialogues, plot elements) for the instances of divergence because of race, and adaptations of gear.

Does that avoid the issues with random NPCs turning into elves or floating heads?

Does anyone have a list of gear that's elf-compatible?

Also, the running animation for elves might be wonky...
